Paul Rumbaugh (53, Stafford, VA) had only one double in his first two games of team Saturday, but a ball change enabled him to carry 12 strikes to end the event for the 20th 300 game of this year's tournament. Many of his previous 300 games came on special occasions like birthdays, and this one came on Armed Forces Day (Rumbaugh served in the Air Force for 21 years).

This guy bowls at my home house and is part of tournament groups I go with. Very solid bowler, obviously.

Bowlers with Missouri ties were making headlines at the Open Championships yesterday...

http://www.bowl.com/news/newsdetails.aspx?id=12884907737

Marc Heninger (27, Grandview, MO) was already on an elite list when he turned the 300/800 trick two years ago, and now he's part of the group with multiple 300 games in the national tournament by throwing one in the second game of his team event.

This next one will pain me to post...

http://www.bowl.com/news/newsdetails.aspx?id=12884907740

Brian Burkhardt (39, St. Louis, MO) picked up the 3-4-6-7 in the 29th frame and Rick Gatlin (52, Eureka, MO) closed with 7 strikes to claim the Regular Doubles lead with 1,440.

Obviously, I was hoping Alex Aguiar would stay in the doubles lead.

Perfect games seem to be coming in groups this year, and another pair added to that list yesterday: Andrew Colon (24, Zephyrhills, FL) in team, and Brian Waugh (40, Glendale, AZ) in singles. This brings the perfect game total to 23 this year.

Daniel Pero (54, Tacoma, WA) won the Classified All-Events title in 2000, and fought through exhaustion to post 564 in team, 658 in doubles, and 585 in singles to take the Classified All-Events lead in this year's tournament last night with a 1,807 score.

Larry Rumple (66, Malibu, CA) added his name to this year's "300 Club", now 24 names strong. His perfect game came last night to end the team event.

Eric Espinda (29, Albuquerque, NM) struck 30 times in his team event last night en route to three 279 games. The 837 is the highest triplicate series ever recorded at the Open Championships, and just the second 800 series of the tournament.

Probably should have posted that yesterday, GP, but IDK why I didn't think to check the boards then...maybe I was too busy w/ a Red Sox game (I think you know I chat w/ other Red Sox fans, too).
