That was the reason i was looking at the lucid was to replace my anarchy. Love that ball but it has a ton of games on it and has been baked and resurf a few times so just looking to replace it with something close and the lucid seamed to fit that nicely.

The Lucid was a little too strong for my league shot tonight- I threw it a couple of times in practice, but ended up with my Anarchy. Was deeper with that ball than normal, so I'm glad it carries so well from pretty much everywhere. Will hopefully get another shot to throw the Lucid Thursday.

I just ordered my Lucid, I had run out of staff incentive so I had to wait.

I do have the following on the way though:

Lucid
IQ Tour (Another One)
Fireroad

Fin, I was looking through some old Bowling This Month mags, and saw the review for the Storm Anarchy in the November 2010 issue. I see why you like it. On the medium pattern, entry angle for Stroker: 6.15, Tweener, 6.8, Cranker: 7. That's the magic. There are very few balls in the Storm lineup with numbers like that since then.

That sounds about right- I'd say I'm in the high end of the Tweener category, so that entry angle is probably pretty close. I didn't really even like it for about the first year I had it, either. Glad I didn't give up on it.

I have a Vivid and just got a Hy-Road. Hadn't bowled in about 30 years and ended up with a 170 average in the Fall league. Just started in the Summer league with the Hy-Road and my average has jumped to 194 for four weeks into it.
Using the Hy-Road on a THS (40 feet) I line up on board 17 and aim at board 6 or 7 at the dots. The Hy-Road comes roaring back as the Vivid never did.
I've been a down and in bowler for years previous using my old hard rubber balls. New to reactive resin types.
Any suggestions when and/or how to use the Vivid in a better way?
I viewed your review of the Lights Out ball. Impressive ball!
Thanks...

The Vivid is a very aggressive bowling ball so for the majority of bowlers during the majority of your standard leagues its just going to hook to early and burn up (giving the illusion of not hooking).

The best times to use it will be when there seems to be a higher concentration of oil or if you can move deeper on the lane in order to take advantage of the heavier application of oil as you move into the center of the pattern.

Hope this helps.

Nothing "wrong" with targeting at the dots, but it does promote early read. It's something I go to once in a blue moon if I'm having trouble getting the ball up the hill. Combine that with your outside line- most THS shots have little oil outside 10 or so. The Vivid isn't seeing enough oil in the heads, while the cleaner cover on the Hy-Road is letting you clear them. I don't really see a problem here, a Hy-Road is an excellent "benchmark" type ball and you can use your Vivid on those odd nights when the oiling machine went a little crazy. Always nice to have an "in case of flood, break glass!" option. If you want to experiment with the Vivid, try moving way in... say plus or minus 15 at the arrows, which is probably going to be 16-17 at the dots, and swing it a little bit. Goof around and see what happens.

Sk8 what would you recommend as a good benchmark ball from Storm, or any other company if you have any experience with them?
