Thanks Richie. I never saw a team make a turn around like this team did. Of course, the bowler I replaced labored through the Fall with a shoulder injury, until he finally got it operated on. I replaced him as the second half started, and bowled 14 of the final 16 weeks, including the position night and rolloff.

As the other bowler would have to miss occasionally or stop bowling due to injury, they often bowled short and didn't finish well in the first half. In fact, they were 8th when I started.

Just having a full team every night made a huge difference. The team chemistry was the best I have bowled on. All were very supportive and encouraged each other. Never heard a negative word, even if one had a bad night. When that happened, it seemed that another bowler bowled well to pick up the slack. That's just the way it was.

In fact, you may have heard that there was significant flooding around here. The injured bowler lives along a River that was flooding, and the team showed up at his house to join his family, who were piling sandbags around his house to hold water back. I got upset that they didn't call me to help. They said they didn't because of my Heart condition, but thanked me for the offer. They were just a good bunch of guys. And, the most fun I have had bowling.

If a team deserved to win, it was this one.

Horrible on the lanes last night. No consistency and was just all over the place. Other stuff on my mind I suppose. 167-199-187=553. Lots of spare shooting, lol.

Another team honor score last night- 2938 series- 4 man team. I was low man with 716, then we had 732, 735, and 755. This is the 3rd team honor series for us this season, and my Wednesday team has had one, too. First game was 1057, so that was our second team honor game score. We wrapped up our spot in the rolloff, which will be in 2 weeks (position round for the last third is next week).
We have our rolloff in my Wednesday league next week, where we wrapped up the top seed this week. Can't finish worse than 2nd on Wednesday ($1000 for 2nd, $2500 for 1st), or third on Thursday. We made an agreement with the team in the top spot on Thursday that if either of us won, we'd split first and second $1800 and $1450, instead of $2500 and $750. The prize fund in that league is garbage for everyone but the team who wins.

Tonight was the last night of our winter league. After spending the middle part of the season in 1st place, with 3 weeks left our team was in 3rd place 11.5 points out of first. We swept the team we bowled that week for all 7 points to get into second place to set up for the final 2 weeks which were both position rounds. We were still 8.5 points behind first place when we took all 7 in the first position round to close the gap to 1.5 points. Tonight when we bowled them again, we took all 7 points once again to win the league by 5.5 points. I've never experienced a comeback like this, sweeping the last 3 weeks to jump from 3rd to 1st was not what I expected to happen. I'm happy and really proud of my teammates, we really came together to pull this off.

Wrapped up my Saturday mixed tonight. The up and down oddity I call my bowling tonight. Went 209, my first time hitting average in 4 weeks. It had one open, a 1-3-8 washout that I didn't get the 8 on.

The second game was 149. I missed three 10 pins and left the 10 on a 3-9-10 split. Only three strikes and none of them were together. I had a lot of bad shots, but missing those 10s were the big issue. Considering how I've bowled the last few weeks this didn't really surprise me.

Now the third game is what I call the oddity. I ran off the front 7, one was a Brooklyn and another a high shot that carried the 4 and both were bad shots caused be poor Execution. The eighth frame, I hit the instep of my slide foot and the ball careened into the gutter just past the arrows. I pick up the full rack spare. I punch out in the ninth and tenth for a 270 game and 628 series. We took 5 points, losing the second game but squeaked out the first and ran away with the last for total. We were in 43rd, probably couldn't move past 42nd and probably stayed at 43rd. I finished the season at 203, my first time booking over 200 for a season and it could have been better had I not trailed off the past few weeks as I lost 2 or 3 pins off my average in the last 4-6 weeks.

Cal, you got 12 strikes, but one was on a spare shot?

Nice 270, but, geez!

Yup, that about sums it up. That spare shot was probably one of the best shots and "strikes" of the night for me.

Nice comeback with the spare. Now that's a 270 game you probably will never forget...twelve strikes in a game and no 300.
