Going to be transitioning into the fall incarnation of our summer league with my current team. We were concerned that we would not be able to join as we were told the league was full, but got confirmation last week that we'd be able to join as a team for the fall. Looking forward to bowling my first full season, but I'm also going to be restarting my candlepin league as well, so it's going to be a challenge to go back and forth and try to maintain a respectable average in both.

WEll, went to practice with my daughter last night. Wasnt really looking at scores jsut concentrating on hitting same spot and my approach. Shot 189, 267 (would of been higher but first ball was on my daugthers score for a strike), 214. Then wanted to play a game of just ten pins but the thumb wasnt having it so I bowled lefty for a stellar 96

I am really geting antsy for the season to start, which will be after Labor Day.
This year I am bowling on two mens leagues that are fairly competeive, and a league with my wife every other saturday.

I took the summer off with the intentions of working on my game after a pretty brutal year last season.
I am anxious to see how my efforts to improve turn out.

Also my center converted to synthetic lanes which should improve the consistancy from week to week. Conditions last year were horrible.

Started Fall league Wednesday 195-210-243=648. League changed to 80% 210 handicap from 80% of 200. Odd seeing 1 pin handicap next to my score with 208 average to start from the Summer League. I had a horrible last week of summer a 527 series that dropped me 4 pins on the final average so I am glad to get back to a 648 to start the fall.

Don't know why of the handicap in the league was changed but in in my opinion I think it should be 80% of 220. Brings up the question what is the fairest handicap in a house league with a lot of 210+ bowlers?

If the league uses a percentage of the difference between team averages, then it does not matter whether individual bowlers are 200, 210, or 220. Based on USBC studies, 80% handicap offers little chance for a lower average team to win the championship. In my opinion, 90% of the difference between team averages is the fairest compromise to satisfy both lower and higher average bowlers.

I would agree with you here based on the top 5 teams in our summer league had multiple 210+ bowlers(3 if not 4)in the 210 -230 range and handicap was based on 200. League has already started now so we are stuck with the 80% of 210.

We have passed a bylaw in our league that the cap base is rounded up to the next 5 over last years highest average. So, this year, it will be 90% of 235.

Ours is 90% of 220. I would rather have it 90% of 200 and keep the people from bagging for handicap.

ours is 100% of 200. this is the first year they have done this and it is teams only so no indiv point. There are 5 points per week 1 for each game and 2 for series. I was not at the meeting and found this out after. not sure if i like this set up.

Since I joined my wednesday league it has been 90% of 220 and finally this year after people got fed up it was voted down to 80% of 215....IMHO I still feel like that is too high!!!
