Drifting is caused by either poor setup or poor technique. It is a great indicator that you may have inconsistant body tilt. The key here is your swingplane. Starting the ball too far inside of that will force you to move left (for the righties) so the ball can clear the hips while too far out will force you to chase the ball and drift right.

Where your hand is can also cause drifting. Playing too far inside the ball will cause you to drift right because the swingplane is too far away from the body while having the hand too far outside the ball can cause you to drift left because now the swingplane is too close to the body.

Most cases though, its either a body tilt or pushaway issue.

And realize that drift is not always bad, only when its inconsistent it becomes and issue. Watch every power player on tour and you will see they drift left, all of them do, that is how they create leverage.

If you drift differently each time that is an issue, if not and the drift is just a few boards I would leave it be.

A change in drift is an issue, if you drift 5 right on one shot and 10 the next there is an underlying issue somewhere in your game that is causing the inconsistent approach.

Can you take a video including your entire body from start to finish, one shot directly from behind and the other from your ball side? Make sure we can see the entire body, head to toe in the entire shot.

Before you worry about drifting I would concentrate on what has been broken down in your video postings already. There are some really good tips in there so I would work on that stuff and once you feel you have it down post another video up so we can move on to the next step.

Agree, I have a good drill that fixed the issue for me, but like SK said work on the other stuff first, then I will share. Here is one great tip that is very hard to learn but pays off big time. Work on one thing at a time. Muscle memory takes time and practice to train repeatability, so do not make the mistake of practicing something two or thee times and think you have it and move on. My Father worked on nothing but arm swing for an entire summer he in no Fagan but has improved tremendously.

I was able to limit my inconsistent drift by doing a drill at home. I take an old broom stick or mop handle and lay it across my shoulders and hang my arms over it. Then I take a four step approach (even though I am a six stepper, this has worked - I haven't enough room in my kitchen for six steps). While taking the approach I focus on a place in front of me (to simulate focusing on the dots, which is all the farther my old man eyes can see anymore). After I "slide," I verify I am lined up to the tile I was trying to be on an the finish.
Does this make any sense...I read it back and it seemed confusing to even me but I cannot seem to word it better...little help here from the wordsmiths??
