Hi, just was wondering when one house puts out lets say the scorpion pattern, and a different house does the same, how accurate and consistant are these patterns? Meaning, will they play the same or will there be slight variances from center to center, due to lane preparation or humidity in center, or any other factors?

How uniform are these patterns in terms of putting them down?

Realize that when the USBC says its the pattern it is their version of that pattern, it is close but not always the true PBA pattern. Many times a regional or national event will have a higher volume of oil that the regular PBAX leagues do not use.

Also, as a regional or national event progresses the pattern will play more and more true as the days go on. This is because of lane memory, when a house runs THS leagues every day and they put a sport pattern out it still will hold some of the memory of the more forgiving THS shot. During a regional they double strip, oil for practice, double strip and oil for the squads the following day. Then they do the same again the following day for the semis, etc. Because of the THS not being out there for so long the patterns begin to play tighter and tighter as the week goes.

The patterns your center puts out are difficult, some times they are more difficult than the actual pattern and others they are easier. It all just depends shot to shot, center to center. They are all harder than the THS though, obviously.
