I'm thinking about using thumb molds. Do YOU use thumb molds? Which system is the best? Pros/cons? What problems do you typically run into? And how accurate are they in comparison to the actual thumb? These are my questions...

I suppose I should chime in here. I have been molding my Turbo Switch Grips for awhile now and love my current thumb mold. My thumb problem is that the base of my thumb at it's crease is wider than the large oval of my thumb knuckle.
I was having a hard time getting the pro-shop to bevel/shape the thumb proper or consistent. Long story short of it is that I have a mold of my thumb "bevel" only and case a bevel for the pro-shop to drill at the proper size & pitches, then smooth that out. I then case a whole thumb mold to use to make all my thumbs.
I have learned to case them 90 Deg out in my casting outer sleeve so I don't need to twist the new thumb when first freeing from the outer casting sleeve. They come out perfectly the same - one for my spare ball and one for my strike ball. They come out so close I am now questioning if I even need switch grips at all.

There's no way I could use a thumb mold... too wide at the knuckle. frown
