I keep thinking about layouts and how positioning the pin and Cg dictates ball reaction. I think to fully understand this one would have to map it out off the first track line. Now, where is the pin and Cg on the last flare line? Has anyone mapped that out and drawn anything from that in terms of how its migrating for an individual bowler? I would think this would tell as much (if not more) in terms of how much energy is still left in a particular ball and how much (if any) correction is needed to get the most out of a ball while reaching a max desired reaction.

"Axis Migration", got it...BTW, Bowl.com has a great article about this from Aug 2007. I was able to track this article down while reading one of my favorite topics ever posted here. I'm not gonna bring it up but it was a firy debate. Good stuff though..

I haven't done any research on the matter, but I've had a couple of balls mapped out to show how the PAP migrates, and where it ends up. I have a few that end with the thumb hole on the axis, and one that actually migrates through grip center to a point very close to my initial track. Teir pin positions are different, of course. The ones that end up on my thumb hole are just below my ring finger, and the one that passes through my grip is inline with my fingers.
You do find your PAP from your initial track line, usually with a Pro Shop tool called an armadillo. You can use the subsequent oil rings to find the path that the PAP takes toward its final destination. You can then measure the distance from the pin to the PAP if you like. I just don't know what value this measurement would be.
