I don't do well on Sport Conditions. Thou it depends on the layout of the oil pattern provided by the center hosting the ABT Tournament.

I bowl 2 nights each week of leagues, thou 2 different bowling centers, and they use the Qubica automatic scoring machines. These Qubica machines record the speed of your ball as it rolls down the lane. My ball speed in comparison to most bowlers is slower. But then I put a hook on my ball. My speed averages 11 to 13 mph. Most bowlers avg. 14 to 16 mph. I guess one of my problems here would either cut the hook, but then I see other hookers measure 16 to 17 mph. I guess I don't have enough strength to get the average ball speed.

I do make sure that I bring the ball thru as I slide before releasing the shot and make sure the arm keeps following thru after the shot. Not sure what the problem is??

Is speed really that important, even on drier lanes?

I think once I get the speed problem resolved I should be able to bowl better up against ABC Sport Condition.

If you cannot be consistent in ALL of those areas, you will not be successful on the sport condition. Period.

Simply put, there is no area on MOST sport patterns. You have to be consistent and have the ability to repeat shots.

Ummmm, yeah. Slow speed will let the ball hook horrifically when it hits the dry part at the back of the lane (even sport shots *usually* don't go 60 feet).

You might want to look into lessons with a qualified coach and see what's your specific hang up that your ball speed is that significantly slower. I know the elderly and young kids can't throw with decent speed, but without knowing what you're throwing I'm wondering if you're throwing too heavy for you. When I dropped from 16 to 15 there was a marked difference in control and accuracy--and better speed--both control and just plain speed.

But like Jim said, speed is only one component that will affect your bowling on a sport shot.
