Lost my first game H2H 214-213, then made a nice adjustment and went 229 & 246 for a 688. Threw my 2Fast at 4000 dull and it responded really well. NO 10 PINS TONIGHT, pretty rare that happens. Couldn't keep it clean thought as i had a 2-8-10 in the second game but you gotta like starting out with a high 6.

I was able to help out another bowler who was struggling to get out of his ball. I mentioned he was dropping his thumb and he responded with a 267-681 (he averaged a 185 last year). Hey, that's what summer leagues are for. Anyway, a nice night but nothing has changed.

just curious met, what do you mean by dropping his thumb? i sometimes have a hard time clearing the ball, so i think im grabbing, so maybe this is the same issue?

As you release the ball, your thumb should be pointing down lane or upwards (depending on how you view it). The point here is your hand in relation to the ball at the point of release. If you have a regular release (you stay behind the ball then rotate around it after the thumb clears) this is sound release. If you try to rotate your hand around the ball BEFORE the thumb clears then your thumb drops and both the fingers and thumb try to exit the ball at the same time (this results in a pulled shot, at best).

Most people who have a hard time getting out of their ball consistantly are trying too hard to make the ball react the way they think it should. With todays equipment being what it is, you don't need to "Make it hook". A lot of times people think they are "Making their ball hook" when in actuality they are restricting its hook through un-needed muscle. Anyway, i have a video around here somewhere that explains it better than i just did, I'll see if i can find it and post a topic.

I ended up getting a man with the first name of Matt as one of my teammates, and I took two vacant scores this week so Berta and Brian could start bowling with us next week. I went with Matt's suggestion of "Pinheads" as the team name. The only notable thing that happened in the meeting was that the league voted to have negative handicaps for teams with averages over 800.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

My night was marked by a brutal spare game, in which I missed 3 10 pins and couldn't make any of my cluster leaves. The only reason the second and third games were within reason was that I found a better look at the pocket by balling down to my Hy-Road and circling the heads a bit.

Result: 124-190-168=482
Average (3 games): 160
Next week's AVG+1 score: 484

Matt averaged 137 on the night, improving in each game. The team only won the third game, with the first game being possible if I had not had a horrible game.

This is the only one that I have seen anywhere. It actually came to our lanes because the lanes where this league was run closed 2 years ago. And, the fellow who ran it brought bowlers and this concept to our house.

It only has 14 bowlers, but takes up 14 lanes. So, the house isn't pushing it too much.

I always liked the head to head format. And, it fits my 1-step approach. As, I have a waiting period with my insurance before an operation can be done on my knee.

Summer league starts next week- 9 pm THS trio league. Haven't really thought about what I'd like to work on or improve. I'd like to make it through the entire season without missing a 7 pin- I think I only missed a couple last summer. I'd love to say I'd like to improve on last summer's avg, but that was 236-237, so I'm not sure that's realistic. I would like to shoot 300/800 at least once, and I'd like our team to win the league. Both pretty realistic goals.

Oh the joys of summer league. I had to go and start off with a 247 average! Three weeks ago LOL... 265, 279, 198 just fell apart in the last game as I typically do. The 279 was a 5 pin on my 10th ball. Then the 2nd week I took a nose dive. 156, 194, 214. Still not sure what happened that 1st game. This week I shoot 233, 230, 173. Again falling off the 3rd game after a great consistent start. I don't know if I'm just misreading the lanes, or getting lazy with my mechanics in the 3rd game... I certainly don't want to be called a sandbagger, with the looks of my 3rd game compared to the first, two.

I am in a duo THS league with one of my college buddies. He was in his work leagues and posts up some good numbers when we go weekly practices.

My goal this summer is to be able to post consistent numbers throughout the night. There seems to always be a huge dip in one of my games and I believe it is more of a mental issue than anything. An example like last week that capped the season: 257, 163 (4 open frames), 247 (2 open frames)...

Let's see what the summer brings!

Just got done with my THS summer [email protected] AMF Imperial lanes. They have great perks for being a league member. 3 free games everyday, 20% off snack bar and Pro Shop. Wanted to join in preparation for fall as this is my firsf league in 8 years! Shot my first 700 of the season w/a 256, 223, 227. Granted this is our 3rd week and so far avg. 213. Its a mixed trios league and we have 6 of us including myself. Just got my new Storm Vivid today but didnt want to grab it out of the bag until I know how it reacts and what line to use. Im stoked im bowling so well after an 8 year break. Woohoo!..lol
