I'm converting my 1-step to a 4-step approach. I don't want to go to 5 as I will have to step on my bad knee twice. So, I will try to live with the 4. Timing is horrendous. Because I'm off, I pull around, trying to force the ball. I also don't have the flexibility to get low until I have bowled 2 games. Don't know why? I stretch an exercise before bowling. But, it's all part of the timing, knee bend, and extension that I can't quite get right.

Last night, in my 5 game match point league, I ha a good run, then it all fell apart.
First position game, I rolled 230 to win. Then I rolled 240 an 280 in my first match. All was going well as I won both games.

Then, I had to switch lanes again for another match. This pair was just goofy. I couln't fin a line an rolled 160, 180. Losing both games an the match to an opponent who had similar trouble, but ha 1 fewer open in each game. Lost to a 180, 190.

So, 7 of 12 points gets me out of the cellar and up possibly 4 places.

I sure had a strange night.

In the first game, I left a 7 pin in seven out of 10 frames. I was slamming the pocket and getting ringing 7s time after time. It was unbelievable. I made 5 of them and finished with a 179.

In the second game I made a 6-8 split in the 9th then struck out to finish with a 197.

In the third game, I went X, /, /, open split then rolled 7 strikes in a row and finished with a 243. Nice final game for the season.

We took all 7 pts and finished in 5th place 2 pts over .500. Really good after a horrible start. At one point we were in last place with somewhere around 7 pts won and 22 lost.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Yes, I thought I'd do better than just one pin over my average for the night, but where I had more games over 200 than under 200 over the last three weeks of this league, I can't really complain. I'm ready to proclaim myself ready for the fall/winter bowling season coming.

Result: 202-201-166=569
Final average (39 games): 189
Average for last 9 games: 200

Shawn (my winter league secretary) was crushing in the first game, running ten before leaving the 10 pin for a 289 and taking the game handily, but my team rallied for the other two games, so we know we ended up tied for 7th but not how many other teams we are tied with. There are definitely worse things than tying for 7th in a 20 team league, so I'll definitely take this. laugh

One thing I wanted to improve on over the summer was converting on my single pin spares, and that goal was accomplished, as I made 76.4% of my single pin spares where I only made 68.7% of them last winter. Particularly telling was my single 10 pin: I made better than 2 out every 3 10 pins, where I only made 53.3% of them last winter season.

The most important thing, however, is something I don't really put a number on: I had perfect attendance again for my 9th straight league, and I take particular joy in being perfect this summer, considering where I was with my health. laugh

OK, kind of got back on track last night. Figured out that I was muscling the ball way too much last week, and kept missing inside of target as a result. 257-238-212-707. Team won all 8 points, waiting to get the standings sheet emailed to me to see if we added to our lead. One open frame- 9th frame of 3rd game- 3-7-9 split. No missed 7 pins, so still sitting at one for the summer (36 games, and that miss was in frame 1 of game 1 of week 1).
Did lose a hair off my avg, but still at 238.19, so I can't really complain.

168+163+170=501. Crapped the bed tonight. Tried using my white dot for the first time in league tonight (after practicing with it yesterday). Bought it online and the holes ended up being too big so tried taping it up. Worked for me in practice yesterday but I guess the ball sitting in my car all day didn't help and just didn't have a good grip on it. Took it to the Pro Shop afterward, going to have it re-drilled.

Lost a pin on my average but still at 180 and my team took all 8 points against a blind team. We were 2 points out of first going into tonight so depending on what happened with the first place team we could be in the lead with one week left in the divisional race.

Hopefully you had a better night than me LudoMonster.

Horrible Night Tonight

Numbers don't really show it as bad, but I was lost the whole night. People were complaining about the lack of oil unless you were bowling outside the 10 (We only had three bowlers all playing from outside in with another using plastic, so there was plenty of oil inside). Switched in the last frame of the last game to my Awesome Finish and it was the best ball I've thrown all night... what do you know?!?! Oh well! Two more weeks to go!

205+188+185=568. I had one spare across the first two games. During practice, I was having trouble finding a line to the pocket. Usually, I adjust my position and target. Last night, I decided to keep my normal starting position and take a less agressive hand and wrist position. This gave me a line that was close to down-and-in. I opened the first game with the front five and struck out the 10th frame. I had 9 strikes and 3 opens.

I focused a lot on a loose arm swing and I think this had a significant effect on my accuracy. I didn't struggle with missing my target as much as I did in recent weeks.

I finished last night satisfied with how I bowled my strike shot. Hopefully, I can keep that up for the remainder of the season.

Decent night last night- 228-259-258-745. Opened in the 1st frame of game 3, clean for the rest of the night, which means still just one missed 7 pin in 39 games. Made a good ball change late in the first game from my Vertigo to my Anarchy, struck on something like 20 of my last 25 shots. Team split, so we need to win one game next week to win the league. Also broke the bank last night for $195, so add that to the payoff next week, and it was a good night. Picked up a few percentage points on my avg, so it's at 238.97 with one week to go.
