Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions.
Wed. night I practiced 6 games. I was working on form mostly. I read 2 things I want to work on.
I've been reading the mental game of bowling and the message boards. I came up with the suggestion that we train our muscles with our consious mind until you get it right and then the subconsious takes control. Kind of like a little kid learning jumping jacks. At first it takes much thought and then becomes automatic.
I'm working at beginning my approach with the ball in a lower position and always throwing what is a good shot for me.
I normally straighten my shot for single pin spares. Biggest problem is the 10 pin. I can make the 6 or baby split easier than a 10.
The 10 pin and shots with more than a single pin give me trouble. Like I had a washout, I hit the 2 in the middle and left 2. Most of my misses are close.
Next time we go to rent-a-lane I want to ask them to put it into practice mode without pins. That way score won't be a factor.
Score carried me away Wed. First 2 games I was more concerned with what I was doing. I actually made 5 spares both games. That is a big
deal for me. 146, 145.
Then I got to chatting with some beginners next to me. Got 5 strikes in a row and got a big head. Missed 2 single pins and ended with a 235. Score got me pumped. Did well for a while. 197 191. Should have quit then, my hand was tearing up. Ended on a bad note. 130.
I actually got one more spare than strike that night. That was probably a first for me.
What is proper? Should I be able to make spares throwing my normal shot by moving and different arrows? Or straigthening out and stay near same spot?
I normally cross lanes for any pins on right of head pin. I have a problem throwing the same shot from different places on the lanes. I don't know if it's mental or what?
Gee, now I feel like bowling!!! There's a tournament I really want to bowl in right now but I have to bowl at least 8 games and my hand tears up after 4 or 5.
Some tell me I need to bowl more and it'll stop tearing. Guy who drilled the ball said I should get it refitted.
