HI FOLKS

I NEED HELP REGARDING A BALL THAT WILL BE BEST SUITED TO DRY HEADS AND LANES, I CURRENTLY HAVE A BLUE THUNDER JUST NOW BUT COULD REALLY DO WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL GIVE ME A CHANCE WHEN FACED WITH THIS PROBLEM. MY THUNDER IS SANDED TO 1000 AND POLISHED. i HAVE A GALAXY AS A SPARES BALL WHICH HAS ALSO BEEN POLISHED TO 1000, I WEAR A WRIST GUARD ASWELL AND SHOULD TAKE IT OFF BUT MY CONFIDENCE IS A BIT LOW.

TONIGHT I BOWLED A 449 AND A 495.

JK,

My knowledge of the current market of bowling balls isn't great, but I'll give some general advice. Some of the answer to your question depends on what you mean by dry, also.
Of the new balls, find one which doesn't have a large hook rating and is still a resin ball. Have it drilled to give you length with an even back end roll if possible.(I'm not sure this is good advice, but I'm doing the same thing right now with a Pearl Beast)
Don't be afraid to get away from resin equipment. A good pancake weight block in a medium hardness urethane ball or even polyester could do the trick. You should be able to judge from your Galaxy how much extra hook you want above that ball. If the Galaxy slides too much, get advice on non-resin equipment which could fit between the two. Some that come to mind are balls like an old slate U-dot(or similar) or the pearl Hammer series. They don't have the modern weight blocks which make the Track flare like crazy, so are easier to control on those dry lanes. You may or may not sacrifice hitting power, but if the ball isn't finishing where you want it to, what good is hitting power?
