I have decided to try an Skillz PBA experiance league this summer. Sounds pretty challenging from what i've heard. Not really sure what to expect or really how to prepare because they will be using completly different oil patterns from what they typically use. Not sure if they will change patterns week to week or if they just use one particular one. Well see what i'm made of anyway..

Youtube has a whole series of videos with Chris Barnes explaining each different oil pattern, what angle to play, what equipment to use, etc. They also did a few with general tips for PBA experience leagues.

Here's a link for scorpion. Dig around to find the rest.

Learn how to throw straight at EVERY SPARE. This includes single 8, 9, 7 pin (don't hook at it if you are right handed). Throwing a hook ball at your spare spells disaster. Remeber there will not be oil in the middle to keep your ball online.
3-6-10...Throw straight. Hooking at it will be a disaster.

Spare are what makes your scores in a PBA league.

That is my advice....

Thanks for the replies, I think if i'm going to bowl this league I am going to have to take my game to the next level. I am going to have to devote practice time and I agree with throwing a straight ball for spares.I don't currently do that but I am going to get a spare ball . In these leagues are we informed as to what type of pattern we are bowling and/or will it change from week to week. Thanks Champ I did find some good stuff on youtube about the different patterns and how they play.

Generally, for a summer league, you'll bowl two to three weeks in a row on each of the animal patterns. Some places also throw in the USBC Open shot, or local tournament shots as well.
