What experiments did you do to prove the color doesn't effect reaction? I think blue balls strike better, while red ones work better for spares. [ducking and running for cover]

Somehow, i missed this one. Actually you are close. My "Evolved Theory" is that it will stain the cover. The surface has to be prepped before soaking and any desired ball strength has to already have taken into account the stain and polish that will alter it.

It has been soaking for 6 hrs now and i can't see the ball. I think since its not absorbing the dye but just being stained that the soak time is gonna be much shorter than i originally thought.

I wonder if you could take it out, heat it up and put it back in once a day. Maybe that would get the dye to sink into the ball's cover and past the resin.

Well, the initial experament is complete. After soaking for just under 48 hours the purple dye took. There is no residual coloring that wipes off as it has completely absorbed into the ball. The general distinctive swirl pattern remains but everything is now purple.

I took before and after pics but with my limited computer intelligence have yet to figure out how to post them here. I'll keep working on that. Also, the polish didn't take but i think that's because of the surface grit. It has more of a matte finish and that was a slight oversight on my part. Live and learn..

Met, keep your photos in documents. Go to Tinypics.com, and upload the photo. Tinypics assigns a URL to it which you can then copy and post in a message.
