Matt McNiel (26, Prior Lake, MN) burst onto the scene two years ago when he broke the All-Events record at the Open Championships, and made more history last night by posting doubles games of 268, 300, and 279 for an 847 series, making him the first bowler with three 800 series on the championship lanes. The perfect game, bowled again with the streaming cameras trained on his pair, was the 15th of the tournament (becoming the 24th bowler with multiple 300 games and the 6th with one in back-to-back years) and the 800 series the 2nd of the year.

With his doubles partner, Charles Vashaw (Deephaven, MN), posting a 642 series, they now lead Regular Doubles with a 1,489 total, and McNiel added a 792 in team and 563 in singles to take the Regular All-Events lead with 2,202. His Linds Lakers 1 team is now 5th in Regular Team (3,278) and 4th in Team All-Events (9,801).

McNiel has a 250.67 average in 27 Open Championships games since 2010.

Already in a celebratory mood after receiving his 25 year plaque before his team event Sunday, Sam Carter (60, Ben Lomond, CA) found more reason to celebrate after his doubles event Monday night, closing out the event with the 16th perfect game of the 2012 tournament.

Robert Staub Jr. (42, Hanover, PA) missed a lot of spares Monday during his team event, but came back yesterday and started doubles the best way you can, as he threw the 17th perfect game of the tournament.

It's been a while since I've had something newsworthy to post...

http://bowl.com/news/newsdetails.aspx?id=12884904605

Ed Swietek (56, Sarasota, FL) had 6 games over 202 to put himself into the Classified All-Events lead yesterday morning with 595 in team, 600 in doubles, and 602 in singles for a 1,797 all-events score. He credited an opportunity to bowl on the tournament condition in Bradenton, FL as boosting his confidence for his national tournament appearance.

Low-to-cash as of 6/15:

Regular Division

Team: 2,616
Doubles: 1,080
Singles: 552
All-Events: 1,714

Classified Division

Team: 2,246
Doubles: 925
Singles: 465
All-Events: 1,463
