BTW, what was meant by managing your launch angles is that the smoother you can lay the ball down on the lane, the better. If you turn too early (driving the ball down on the floor) or you like to loft it, you're going to struggle.

I bowled on it last night and it was death outside of 5 unless you were pretty straight.
12-8 was good look with the right ball and speed.

the back ends by me are not as clean as Im expecting in BR
shot seemed especially touchy.
although i did not have the right equipment with me.
playable to start,up to the bowlers and how they attack it and where it goes from there
spare making is at a premium!

Could anybody describe what this 2.2:1 means in a little more detail?

For a pattern to be considered a sport pattern it must have a ratio of 3:1 or lower (such as the 2.2:1). What this means is that you take the average volume of oil from the R18 to L18 boards and you divide that by the amount of oil on the R3-R7 boards and the L3-L7 boards. In easier terms 2.2:1 means that there is 2.2 times more oil in the center of the lane than the outside of the lane.

im pretty sure thats the ratio between the inside oil and the outside oil so for every unit outside theres 2.2 units inside, so its a sport pattern, a completely flat pattern would be a 1:1 ratio, and i think house shots are more like 10 or 20:1

According to Kegal, there are multiple ratio's. The Latitude ratio is taken at distances of 22' and 2' before the end of the pattern while the Longitude ratios are taking every foot of the pattern resulting in outside taper and inside taper ratios.

Yeah, i'm thinking the same thing..lol

Here's my scouting report...my center had the shot out today for the Coke league bowlers to practice on (center has older HPL lanes). The bowler I saw was a lefty stroker, and he was trying to play straight up 5 with a Nexus w/ OOB surface, and I'm not sure about the layout, but the pin was just above and to the left of his ring finger, and there was a weight hole to the left of and a couple of inches above his thumb hole. He told me the pattern is, indeed, speed-sensitive, and there's no miss room: If he missed a board outside, it came up light, and a shot I saw where he missed a board inside left the 2-4-7.

http://www.bowl.com/news/xmlburner.jsp?xa=./webapps/ROOT/news/main/data/021812EdSeliga.xml

Ed Seliga (52, Kenosha, WI) led his Seliga Pro Shop team to games of 910, 1109, and 1023 for the first 3,000 team score of the tournament on Friday afternoon. Saturday, Seliga posted a 656 set in doubles to take the lead in that event with Chris Galovits (West Allis, WI) with a 1,284 effort, then posted a 719 singles set, and currently leads every Regular division event with a 1,969 all-events total. The team did not see the oil pattern until they worked with Silver coach Bill Hall on the Showcase Lanes, and they credited that for their result.
