Don't you also have to carry 200+ for at least 2 consecutive years as well as get an endorsement from 2 touring pros?

Actually Cowboy - the requirements have been loosened up. Here are the current requirements:
There are three ways to become a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA):

A 200 average or better for the most recent league season with at least 36 games in that league.

A 190 average or better in a sanctioned USBC Sport Bowling League. This is a league run by the USBC using the PBA patterns. You can find out if there are sports leagues near you by contacting the USBC at (414) 421-6400.

Cashing in a PBA Regional tournament as a non-member.

This is straight from www.pba.com

Interesting thread with a lot of good info. I was asked a few times if I'd get my procard and honestly I never gave it much thought. I always wondered what pros and cons there would be if I did decide to go for it. I still need to get more tournament experience and sport conditions under my belt before I'd consider it even with a 224 average. It sounds like it can be more of a restriction if you can not travel. I wouldn't mind $1 practice though, I spend way too much per week to keep my game sharp.

Well, after all is said and done, the posting of this topic was fairly irrelevant. Not that the information given wasn't good, but my game fell apart. After getting a lesson a while back I lost everything, scoring more 400s than I did in my entire 1st season. I believe I've got it back now, for the most part at least. I still haven't managed a 600 since, though I'm making most spares again. Last week I missed one easy spare, and missed 5 hard ones (washout, few splits and a 3-9). It was a 560, and I felt really good about it. Felt like I had good timing and release and was fairly accurate. At any rate, I'll need to shoot a few 800s in the last few weeks to get a 200 average! Next season though, in my second full season, I WILL average at least 210 I've decided.

Wow, They really have loosened things up. Is this actually a marketing ploy to draw new memeber to the PBA in order to empty their wallets?

My input was from about 20 years ago. I know that that was yesterday and not today but if anything I would have thought the requiring criteria would have become stricter. I guess this what I deserve for "retiring" a few times. LOL.
