Kingpin is not to be taken all that seriously. Although there are some "professional" moments in it, they are definitely moments. The
movie's a great comedy!
Seeing Mark Roth, Randy Pedersen, Justin Rhomek and Parker Bohn III at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno was a pretty neat part of the film.
And, without a doubt, the traumatic final match between Roy Munson and "Big Ern" HAD to have been inspired, at least in part, to Randy Pedersen's real-life devastating loss to Ernie Schlegel in the 1995 Bayer/
Brunswick Touring Players Championship.
