I was wondering does anyone know the name of the PBA tournament where the bowlers bowl on all five of the animal pasterns at once in one game? I saw it on youtube once and I forgot what it was called but I would like to watch it again.

I also remember that, where (i believe) they had to bowl on a pair made up of two different patterns. Not sure how they would be able to cover all five in one game though. The World Championships use all five patterns but not in one game.

If Rhino Page won that, it was probably the PBA Experience Challenge. metguy, that worked by having one lane with each pattern and bowling two cycles. It wasn't a regular tournament, but a special made-for-TV event that featured the animal pattern event winners from the first World Series of Bowling and a chosen amateur that bowled in a PBA Experience league. They probably won't have another one unless the PBA and the USBC reboot the PBA Experience program.

BTW, that question was misplaced, because this thread is about an amateur tournament (albeit the most prestigious one in the United States) that doesn't use any of the PBA patterns. You'd have probably been better posting in the "Pro Bowling Tours" forum, asato.

Richie, I have a teammate who keeps insisting that the USBC was unhappy with the high scores at last year's National tournament, and that the pattern for 2012 is going to be flatter with a higher volume of oil, making it much tougher to score on. Since you're the guru of all things Nationals, could you provide any insight into this? Is my teammate talking out his ass or does he have some useful information?

Dan, I read that the USBC intentionally called for a shot that would yield a higher scoring pace than in previous years to allow more bowlers to be competitive, and that they wee happy with what they got.

Dan, I wouldn't know what next year holds, but when I see the pattern for next year's nationals, you know I'll post the link to it. smile
