One of those bad nights... 194,148,151. First ball was woeful, left several bad splits, and a couple of missed easy single pin spares.. Such a bummer! I have been throwing the ball very well over last 2-3 weeks with averaging steadily rising again..Tonight just sucked lol..

First week of league, went 602. Was throwing the ball really well in the first game. Front four, went high in fifth covered but then opened in the 10th grabbing it at the bottom. I am really trying to put less on the ball and a few times tonight, especially the third game (177) I grabbed it at the bottom and my tropical heat checked up. Oh well I just am getting going again and working on killing the revs and smoothing at my release. Still frustrating a bit knowing it is just a house shot and opening 2/3 times in 10th. Really with only a few less "grabbed releases" I go 700 no problem. All in all still getting used to "doing less" and it will take a bit. Oh lol twice I left a 3-6 when I came up high and then both times blew it by the 6 both times barely chopping it. Not too bad for first week back.

Had the morning open. So, I went to the lanes. Tonight is the first night of my toughest league. 20 teams of 5 bowlers per team in a 20 lane house. Wall to wall bowlers. And, most are well over 200 average. A very competitive league.

So, I went to roll a few games. Ran into a few friends, and we all set up next to each other.

I was feeling really good, and my scores showed. I averaged 231 over 5 games. I thought tat was pretty ood, until I looked at the scores of another retired bowler to my right. He started 278-279-289 and finished with a 247-232. Said he was getting tired. I asked "why"? "You only rolled 1 ball per frame".

Some of these older bowlers are really good.

My league opens up on Thursday, so I went to get in a few frames.
Still having issues with my hand turning way too early. I have to remember to lead with my ring finger,..I get a much better look that way.

Anyways, my hand was turning early again, but I did get it together at the end. Did not keep score, but everything started to feel "right" again.

Also picked up my new Raptor, and bowled a game with it. Still getting "aquainted" but I think I'm going to love this ball. It goes long and has a nice strong move at the end.

Looking forward to Thursday.

Bowled tonight, nothing special 181,191,199,212, but felt that the old adage of "less is better" does so apply to bowling.. Take your time, don't hurry between open bowlers, relax, and concentrate on only the shot u are throwing..

Tim, I too suffer the hand turning at times, again it kills a frame here or there with me.. I tell myself to focus on my fingertips and the feel of them in the ball during backswing and release when I am struggling with this.It helps

300-243-223-766 last night- first night of league. Never shot 300 the first game of a league before. #21 sanctioned.
Good thing we use our entering average (226) for the first 3 weeks, or we'd be in trouble. Our handicap format is 85% of the difference in team averages, so we'd give up a ton more pins next week than normal. 4 man team, we shot 2896 as a scratch team series (963/game average). Our entering team average is 858, so we'd end up giving away an extra 89 pins/game to whoever we bowl next week if we had to use our "established" averages.

Congratulations on 300 #21. I've never shot 300 in the first game of league either. My latest one was in game 2 the first week of our match play league a couple of weeks ago. What a difference two weeks makes though. Last night I shot the worst I have in two years. 168-178-146. I didn't even break 500 last night after shooting 723 the week before, and 761 the week before that. Think I had a bad case of my "cranial inversion disorder" that crops up from time to time.

Note: I chose not to spell out the entire disorder descriptor due to censoring. I think everyone here knows the exact position of the cranium during the process of this disorder though......LOL

I like this thread, cause I bowl more open bowling then league.

This weekend, I bowled with a few friends both Saturday and Sunday mornings. I had fun, and the scores showed it.

Saturday: Rolled 216-290-245-232
Sunday: Rolled 209-266-254-245-234-216

Two absolutely atrocious sets against the THS that were all together way too similar. Each set had a way bad game, a medium bad game and an OK game. I need to rethink my approach to this hall.
