Finally bowled pretty well in the Colorado State Open Championships! Bowled singles and doubles on Saturday and team on Sunday. Saturday didnít start well at all. We started our doubles set on the end pair and one of my teammates that arrived early said it had been double oiled. Pretty much everyone struggled on that pair and I ended up with a 553 series. We moved one pair to the left and started our singles set. Much better shot! I ended up going 257, 266, 279 for an 802 series! I used a fairly old ball a Hammer Black Widow Pearl, but it ended up being the best ball for the shot.

Bowled team event at a different house on Sunday and shot 702. 2057 for the 9 game set. Too bad I shot so poorly in doubles. I coulda been a contenda!

I just got the official notification last night that I won the Scratch Singles event! First tournament win ever!!

Not trying to be nit-picky, but Colorado State Open Championships the last weekend bowled was Memorial Day Weekend. Maybe it was a different tourney you shot in? Granted "unofficial" the highest scratch series was an 801. :-S

You are partially correct. I did bowl the Colorado State Open in May - the scores I shot were as stated. I just got the official notification this week in the mail. The reason my score isn't listed in the scratch singles category is when our team captain asked if I wanted in the scratch events I said yes and he put me in for scratch all events only, not scratch doubles or singles. The score isn't listed in the results because that list is basically a payout list and I won't be getting any scratch prize money. Look at the lists for the previous years and you'll notice dollar amounts for each listing. Check the Regular Handicap scratch singles category. I'm listed there in 10th place. When I first found out I wasn't entered in the scratch singles I wasn't a very happy camper, but apparently I do get the win, just not the money. I've attached a scan of the letter I received just in case anyone thinks I'm BSing.

Right on man, wasn't really trying to knock you or anything. I'd be finding me a new captain! :P As far as I knew it Scratch All-Events meant just that, Scratch in every aspect of the tournament as well as handicap. That's too bad man. Where at in Denver do you bowl?

I'm looking for a new team to bowl with anyway. I'd like to find a team that can compete at a higher level and also push me to improve. The guys I bowl with now are generally pretty good on the house shots (200+ averages), but don't usually do so well in the city and state tourneys. Yeah I thought all events meant just that as well.

I bowl at HeatherRidge lanes in Aurora in the Fall and AMF Aurora in the Summer. I may be looking to bowl in a different house after this upcoming Fall season though. The current house has really gone down hill and doesn't really seem to cater to bowlers anymore.

I used to bowl Fall/Winter/Spring at AMF Aurora, though it was a few years ago. Now I bowl more in my area, typically AMF Sonesta, and Holiday Lanes, though currently bowling Summer league at AMF Northglenn. I know Holiday has a scratch league on Monday nights (Fall league) same time as the mens league I bowl on. I hear ya on houses not taking care of their league bowlers, that is the sole reason I don't/won't bowl at Brunswick Zones anymore. Aside from taking over the thread... great bowling, and welcome to the forum!
