My team bowled in the Va State Open Tournament this past weekend. Due to one of our members having hip surgery a few weeks ago, we needed another bowler. When we couldn't find anyone from our same (Hopewell Va) area, I called my daughter who lives in Roanoke. She agreed to bowl with us. In the team event, yesterday, she had games of 242, 159 and 256 to shoot 657. In the second game, her ball kept hooking through the nose, and like me, she didn't adjust until the 8th or 9th frame. Then she moved more left on the approach and moved her target from the 10 to the 14 or 15 and absolutely killed the pocket the last game, stringing 8 in a row.She won two handicap pots with handicap games of 304 and 318(entering average in the mid 160s)
Some might think she is a sandbagger, but she works two job and tries to bowl once a week in a small church league, where the oil is never consistent, and like me, all of her equipment is old, so she just had an exceptional day on the lanes.
The 657 is her career high set, and the 256 is just a few pins under her previous high game. If she had adjusted sooner, she could have shot her first 700, but I take some blame for that as I was one of her first coaches when she was a junior bowler
