Any tips on how to go about getting just 2 pins on the first ball of a frame?

Reasoning: I put together a bowling outing as a team building event for my group at work. We had multiple games but one was Bingo Bowling and part of it was to complete the board. You were able to check off the box by getting various scores on the first ball (unless it was a spare, then you had a choice). Well we determined that after 24 games for 6 people that a 2 was not very easy to roll. I thought that my son (age 5) using a light ball and bumpers would be able to do it - he threw 9 games the other day and nothing close. I was even watching many of the other lanes w/young bowlers but no 2s.

Did not even think about this when I set up the game but it still has us talking at work about the impossibility of it. We are even trying to roll a 2 on JamDat bowling on our phones but to no avail. We are drawing diagrams on white boards.

Are we striving for the impossible? Someone please help!

Thanks.

Basically yes it is impossible, you ahve to have low speed and a great eye for where to exactly hit a ball, because you are definetely going to have to take out either the 7 or 10 pin and one other with it, how you do that is basically by pure luck.

To only take 2 pins for a right hander take out the 6-10, for a left hander take out the 4-7.

It is really easy to pick them off the rack, just line up for a 10 pin, and move the target 2 boards in. Your shooting the 6 sending it straight backward and the ball deflection takes out the 10.

By the way, this is a great exercise for practice. First ball shoot the corner trying for two pins, second ball shoot the strike line.

That's kind of what I did for a while to practice with my spare ball. Rather than using it for spares, I was using it first and alternately going for the 7 or 10 pin, then trying to spare with my strike ball.

I've gotten 2 pins a couple times doing that, but usually if I hit the 4 or 6 pin, it took out both pins behind it.

Like coach said, you need to shoot almost straight at the 4 or 6 just missing the 2 or 3 pin so you can send the 4 or 6 straight back and due to the angle the ball goes at, it'll take the 7 or 10.

When I go practice tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get 2 pins intentionally.

Well if you practice it that way, you will have a shot that is good for the 10, the 6, or the 6-10, without having to think of what to throw to pick them up. All will be the same shot.

Personally if I were trying to do this in competition I would use a hooking ball, and get it to turn on the outside just before impact. There is less chance of sending the six back into the nine that way, but staying outside the three.

For practicing this to learn spare conversion, I would use a plastic ball.

you get something i think for a sanctioned 292 called the "Impossible Game" from what I know there are only a few people that have ever done this.

to add to my last post a kid on my team is Imfamous for hitting just two pins. Not that he does it on purpose just he does it. He also leaves the 2 pin a lot another thing that baffles me.

CC Bowler05,

I read somewhere that 292 was the last score to be bowled. I think the first time anyone did it was in the mid-90's. Guys that had more 300's than they could count would bowl the first 11 and then try to get a 2 so they could be the first one.
