Finally put together 3 good games on Monday. 248, 257, 258 for a 763. It was actually a clean night too. I haven't had one of those in a LONG time. I've had 1 or 2 good games in a night but not all 3. The bad thing was, we only won 2 of 7 points. The team we bowled was on fire. We shot 3340 scratch and they shot 3460. Oh well. It has happened to all of us. Only a few weeks to go until the end. I just need to keep it up.

Even though, you may be my opponent in the VL this week, nice shooting, back to back, Russ.

Hey, think you could make a Summer League at Crystal Bowl on Wed? Trio League, 4 games a night, $17. I may have an opening. Former teammates are first, of course, but one is expecting to travel this Summer.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Tonight was a night I felt I could build on to finish the season out strong. I knew I was up against a tough team, so my mantra was just to relax and try to make good shots, and I largely succeeded, particularly in the last two games. I felt I was even reading and trying to stay ahead of the transition better, which was something I wanted to improve on. The result was my first 600+ league night in many weeks.

Result: 172-218-244=634
Average (90 games): 185
Average for last 9 games: 185
Next week's AVG+1 score: 567

My teammates Eileen and, particularly, Carl (who was clean through 8 frames in the game) picked my bad first game up, but I needed to be clutch the rest of the way at the end of games, and was, the second game to win the point, and the third game to save the point for total and a net win.

Thanks but I definitely dont bowl in the summer. My hand barely fits in the ball now and its 50 degrees. LOL. Seriously though Crystal Lakes too far for me to drive. Maybe Jay would?
I appreciate the offer though.
One week left in our league before roll offs and we are up two points. Hopefully I can keep my streak going. Really its all about carrying the ten pin for me and picking the sucker up. I can bowl a great 160 game if I miss my ten pins.

I almost didn't want to bowl last night after such a good night on Monday. Still did pretty well, but didn't have the pin carry like I did. I left quite a few ten pins + a couple of pocket splits. The scores were: 235-248-205 = 688. We took all the games which puts us way in to first place. I also subbed in the later league ending with: 257-218-223 = 698. We lost the first two mainly because the other team was on and bowling way over team average.

Nice scores but sort of bittersweet because I can easily reflect back to the mistakes that cost me back-to-back 7's.

My friend called me around 4 to ask me to sub for him as he was doing some work to his place and wanted to get it finished today.

First game was a 1 open 202. That one open was a 9 pin that the ball just skimmed past, but off of my hand I knew was going to miss it. I had a lot of problems clearing the thumb cleanly this game despite having the most strikes of any game, probably as many as all the last two games combined. No Bowlsk tonight or for the rest of the season to tell for sure.

Second game I had 2 opens, the first early on where I failed to make contact with the head pin on either toss. The first ball that frame I let my wrist go slack well before the release and the ball almost didn't move at all, second shot I moved right a little bit to try to cover the 1-2-8 leave and picked the 2 cleanly out of it. The other open was in the tenth frame. My ball dug in hard leaving the 3-4-6-7-10 and I only got the right three for a 167 game. Very few strikes. The thumb started clearing better, I think I was rotating a little early the first game, and the ball would over react so had to try to make the adjustment for that.

Third game I continued to have to move left, the pattern was just breaking down that much at least for me. Some others could still stay right some. A couple of frames after converting the 4-7-10, changing hand positions, I kept having issues so changed to my weaker ball and it still took off on me as I moved left with it. Finally I decided to just use the plastic after leaving yet another 3-6-10 which I missed when I put the plastic ball to far to the right. With it I left another 4-7-10 right after the bowler in the same position on the other team left it. He wanted me to shot first to try to pick it up again but I missed everything as I put too much angle on it. Same thing almost happened in the first frame when he left the 7-10 but both of mine got tripped late, first the 7 then the 10. I had two strikes, like bookend, first frame and the eleventh shot. The last one I just threw plastic straight between the second and third arrow with a little rotation on it and the pins just exploded. This was a 163 game for a 531 series.

On a side note, the team I really belong on but I let my spot go for the second half had issues with their pair. Both teams had their balls get chewed up. At the end of the night the mechanic on duty opened up the access panel right where the return begins to turn upwards for the rack. Seems there was some sort of issue there and someone used duct tape to fix it. Well the tape didn't work too well and the track didn't line up leaving a hard edge right before the belt to bring it up. One bowler on "my" team just got his first ball ever drilled up for him right as league started.

Bowling this past week:

Mon - 653
Wed - 599 VL night
Thurs - 605
Fri - 639

Nothing eventful. But, I am carrying a problem from night to night. I can't practice during the week, so the problem persists. I do practice on Sunday, so Monday seems to score better. But, the problem soon returns through the rest of the week.

Yes, you can bowl league too much without practicing.
