the first and second videos are a four step the last one if a five step

trying to focus on keeping the free swing and extending the second step while shortening the third and walking straight, or at least staying left once i move that way

There are a couple of things you need to work on:

1. Look at your Avatar and see where Sean Rash's balance arm is at the top of his back swing, and then look at yours. His is out in front of him pointing toward his target line, yours is off to the left. This is causing you to close down and cut off your swing.

2. Your push away is too slow and long, don't let your elbow extend past your chest before dropping the ball into the swing. As it is now your push way is very long and loopy shortening it will allow the ball to have more momentum as it drops and allow for a better swing and cadence. Your cadence is very slow 1 and 2 and 3 and slide it should be quicker 1 and 2 3 slide, shortening your push away will help this.

I think if you try suggestion number 1 with your balance arm being in front of you, you will not step off to the left because your body weight will be headed toward your target instead of off to the left.

You're welcome. I'm checking that one out as well.

Don't get discouraged if you throow your first 5-10 balls way right when you first try putting the balance arm in front of you like Sean Rash does. When I first started doing it I think I dumped the first four balls in the right gutter! It takes some getting use to but it is well worth doing.
