True. True. After Mika missed that 10-pin, he seemed to have some not-so-rosy Finnish words to say. I would be the last person to stand within 10 feet of him after that!

Mika has shown himself to be a great bowler. Just a bit of bad luck and maybe some tension and it's time to beep out some words.

Yeah Mika will be salty over that for a long time, but like you said he's an excellent bowler who will recover. Could you imagine if Norm Duke was the type of person who liked to rub it in after he won?

Heckling your opponent always bites you in the behind eventually. Good time ribbing is different. I'm not talking about good time trash talking. Everyone has been in Dukes position and everyone's been in Mika's position. Doesn't make nice, to kick a guy when he's down. You never know when it will be your turn to get knocked down.

Major major heart in that little guy there. I love how he kissed his wife and kids (the camera) after saying his heart went out to Mika. A class act for sure.

As he implied, Norm backed into the win. But hey! That's why they play 10 frames.

Taking all that together, if "Lil Norm" had heckled Mika, Norm would have been the next to get knocked down, so Norm kissed the camera instead--which really represented Mika--as thanks for being handed the win! No...not really. heh

I think Mika would've beat up Ryan Shafer if he were in Duke's place.

Stuff happens. You should have seen how much stuff happened to me today! (Invert some of the better scores in the US Open and you would have my practise scores. At least I broke 10 though.)

I feel terrible for Mika. His game was spot on all 3 games, outside of the greek church, he really never missed anything bad.

Especially coming off the 10 pin on the 299 in the semis last week with the same infamous 10 pin on the last ball in the 10th.

I do have to give props to Norm Duke for his classy act. Not that many players would have said that. He won it from the bench and bowlers hate that. He put the pressure on, he did what he could and Mika is unflappable with spares. I was absolutely shocked.

Duke is 46, Mika is 43, neither are power players and throw a direct line to the pocket (ala WRW3) and that is how to win on the U.S. Open.

Amazing match though.
