Check this out. If you hover the mouse pointer over a score, it will show a graphic of the pins. http://pba.com/LiveScoring/RoundRobin_Game_Results.aspx?RoundID=1645&BowlerID=8678

Interesting discovery by my wife. There were TWO two-handers in the top 24 as of game 50. I knew there was another American two-hander out there, but I didn't recall his name and I didn't think to look for him. He was on Xtra Frame during match play round 3, I was told. Apparently he made a good run!

8 Brian Valenta Lockport, Ill. 16-8-0 10823 +823 -26 206.86

Tracking Belmo's progress throughout the 50 games was suspenseful. I never thought I'd hear my family cheer over bowling like it were football or football. heh (Almost like those Kelly Kulick fans during qualifications.)

10 Jason Belmonte Australia 14-10-0 10783 +783 -66 207.26

Better luck next time, Belmo.

so close yet again, he really is the man!!

There are 4 that I know of Belmo,Osku,Valentta and Cassidy Schaub. Imagine in another 10-20 yrs, I wonder whether we will see more 2 handers on tour??

I know of an 18 year two hander from my area that is going to be giving it a go. Someone local is going to back him financially.

Old-timer Johnny Petraglia (8 mos older than me) cashed with a 200 avg. Mighty impressive for a 45-year PBA member.

Galoot, it's true what they say in all sports...the greats could compete in any era. If Petraglia was in his prime, he'd definitely be right up there with the leaders. smile

Speaking of "old-timers," my son was being coached by Carmen Salvino today.

Before the US Open finals, there was a 2-hour clinic with a good number of pros coaching. Carolyn Dorin-Ballard's energy and enthusiasm was amazing as she pretty much ran the show. Sean Rash gave a quick speech about the importance of spare shooting. (I wish I had video taped that!) I even got a cupcake! Highly recommend it for anyone though it seems to be geared more toward younger people.

I give Norm Duke a lot of credit for staying focused and going off the sheet keeping himself in the game after that stone 8. I Never would have guessed that tenth frame.

I saw the (now-infamous) gutter ball on ABC live as it happened, that Del Ballard Jr. threw to lose the Fair Lanes Open in Baltimore to PDW, 20 years ago (Del would go on to win 3 titles that year), perhaps maybe 20 years from now, you (and I) and everybody else on this board will be asking everyone at your local home bowling center....

"Where were YOU when Major Mika Koivuniemi missed the 10-pin to lose the U.S. Open title to Norm Duke when he only needed a mark to win it?"

And more importantly, how will Mika bounce back after this crushing loss? How much serious maple moxey does he have in that tank of his? If I know Mika Koivuniemi he will come back with a vengeance next week at the Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship, maybe he will make the show, we'll all find out later on this week.

February 27th, 2011, a day that will forever go down in infamy in the PBA record books, and also as one of the blackest days in sports history, and this coming just less than 24 hours after unranked Virginia Tech knocked out #1-ranked Duke (Coach K's hoops squad not Norm Duke) on national TV (I happen to have watched the game last night on ESPN).
