The other night I left an insane number of ten pins I normally don't have this problem but I left 14 in 5 games. I tried moving left that didn't work moved right that didn't work what is the reason for not carrying?

I play the outside standing anywhere From the 8-15 throwing at the 7-10 board but never really move further inside then that

Thanks

Chad

If I know I threw a good shot, and it was a good pocket hit, and I leave a 10 pin, I move half a board to the right, and that carries them. This is based on the advice of Parker Bohn in his book, How to Master the Game.

First, I'd like an answer, too.

2nd, what I do know is that if you're getting good pocket hits and have adjusted L & R, and still have leaves, then switch to a ball with more surface.
Also, a league bowler told my teammate to move his starting position back a little, which worked for him. Try 1/2 to a whole foot length.

Thanks I only have one ball currently I'm pretty new to bowling I was obviously doing something different /wrong as I have never had a problem carrying the 10 before.

If I am leaving weak 10 pins I move up on the approach about a half step. That usually knocks them down.

If I leave a solid ringing 10, I back up 2-3". If that doesn't work, I move a half-board to the right.

All of this is based on my observation of the 6 wrapping around the 10. That's because the ball hits the 3 a bit too straight causing it to deflect the 6 wide and around the 10.

Get just a touch more heavy on the 1, should swing the 3 just a bit wider into the 6 which should hit it straighter toward the 10.

That's my theory anyway. . . laugh

My first move is to move my feet 1/2 board to the right/outside. So it it vitally important that I know exactly what board I am standing on. Now if that doesn't work......

I might move my feet back on the approach a few inches. If that doesn't work.....

I will probably move everything inside one and one move. And when I do that, if my ball is skidding too much then I will also target closer to myself with my primary target.

another alternative....stay where I am and target a board to the right/outside, but further down the lane with my primary target.

Everyone has their own favorite moves for this. So if you keep Track of what works, when you will gain experience getting rid of them faster. NOt that you won't leave 10 pins again. It will happen, there's no getting around that. But hopefully you will not get stuck in a situation that you described where you just can't get away from them.

Not bowl? LOL.

Seriously there are multiple answers, whether it's a ball change, complete change in line played, move up, back left or right. Sometimes it's a subtle change in hand position. Sometimes that's all I need to do is move my pinkie in or out to kick the 10 out.

Sometimes, rarely, but it does happen it's the pins aren't set right. Many bowlers will never notice something is wrong with the pin set up.

Excellent observation. Watch the 6 pin. If it wraps around the 10-pin, move a board to the right. If the 6 goes straight to the gutter, take a half step back.

The last is what worked for me on Tuesday
