I had my first ABT tournament today out at Olympic Lanes in Milwaukee.

Being my first big tournament, I was quite nervous but tried to not let it get the best of me. Needless to say it was a hell of a learning experience for me today. Pretty deep pattern that had me playing way left.

144, 127, 116, 149

Had a hard time finding my line in the first couple of games. Spares were no joke either, as I missed just about everything except for 10 pins.

I was very happy with the way everything was run. It was a very fun experience and I now have a lot more knowledge of what to expect for next time I play.

I had the same experience last week. I went to one of the bigger tournaments in Ontario. Bowled six games, and I think only 1 of them was over my average. It was a scratch tournament too, so I ended up placing really badly. Oh well, like you said, it was a good learning experience. I know what to expect next time!

First off Congratulations to both of you for having the confidence in your game to enter the big tournaments. I really like the fact you didnt dwell on your scores or make excuses for them.

Keep up the good work my bet is with attitudes like that we will be seeing some good results in the future.

Ryan did you have your New Jersey for the tourney?

I did not have my new jersey in yet. I am expecting it sometime this next week, then I have to sew on the ABT logo as well.

I'll try to get a good picture of me in action once I get it in!

Good deal looking forward to it! Jordan loves his and we sold High 5 gear 5 more of them at his Challenge series league lol all the parents love it.

They must paint the logos into the fabric somehow, you can not feel them when you run your fingers over them they just feel like the fabric.

Jordan was getting all embarrassed with all the strangers rubbing his jersey lol

LOL!

I'm quite looking forward to getting it.

There was a vast array of jerseys out there today. I was quite impressed with the Tournament Champion Polos they give out to the winners of each tournament. It's full back embroidered with name, ABT, and location. ABT logo on the front, left sleeve, and Storm logo on the right sleeve. Very slick looking!

I am bowling in my first tournament tomorrow. it is a 8 game sweeper where you have to change lanes every game. I have been in a slump for the past 2 weeks so my confidence is not very high. it should however be a good learning experience for me.

Ryan, what pattern was used?

Why was the shot playing deep inside?

Where were you standing at, where were you aiming at the arrows and where was the break point?

Where were the people playing that were doing well, and what were they doing that you weren't?

If you can look back and analyze what happened then you might have some answers for the next time you see this pattern.

CoachJim:

My first practice shot I started by standing at 28 and throwing at 12, break point around 7-8. Threw it right in the gutter.

Moved out and threw over the third arrow, and found some success. If I pulled it some, it was going left. If I let it out too much, totally missed the pocket.

From what I observed, the majority of players were throwing from outside like myself. However I did see a couple of people throwing up outside the 2nd arrow and hitting the pocket well. The guy to my left shot 290 throwing that line.

I was somewhat reluctant to move inside and try from there since I did have a tiny bit of success when I threw a good ball. Overall, I felt like my shot was a little all over the place. If I had been more consistent on the same line, I'm sure I would have scored higher. Spares on this pattern seemed to trouble me some. 10 pins were no problem, although I did miss a couple of single 6 pins. I was struggling to hit everything else. Anything on the left side was difficult, and if I missed the pocket I didn't leave myself very makeable shots. Led to a lot of opens.

ryan, sounds like a long, oily shot. No bank out there. Should have been a straight up 8-10 from the outside. Needed an even rolling ball with a strong arcing back end.

Shooting cross lanes on left side spares caused you to roll through the puddle in the middle, and the ball straightened out, not finishing. Right side spares, your ball slid straight.

Fun pattern. Need the right equipment for it.

Could your t-road solid handle it? Don't see how the other balls could have worked, unless your VG was sanded dull.
