^^^ Nice set Ryan.

I went out tonight after work for some practice. Wanted to try some new releases and some different axis rotations. Ended up bowling nine and bowled the last 4 for score.

Anyhow worked on a stronger cupping of my wrist the first game and was really revving up the ball. Started at 10 on approach shooting for 14 at the arrows and and 7 or 8 at the break. Had some trouble early with pulling the ball since cupping is new for me. Ended up shooting a 177 which is pretty decent since my first 4 balls were all left of center from pulling.

The next game and a half I worked on a broken wrist release to hopefully add to my spare game soon. It slowed my ball down a lot but I was able to keep very minimal if any hook at all.

Next game and a half I worked on nothing but ten pins using both my regular shot as well as my broken wrist shot. Starting to really nail the 10 consistently now.

5th game I used just to warm up my normal release and make sure I had no problem jumping around. Also did a bit of practice with where I was letting the weight of the ball fall on my hand from pinky to index finger.

Final 3 games were just shoot to score playing my normal mark, speed, and release for my house. Finished with a 214, 204, and 226.

Oh didn't even mention the main reason I actually went out tonight. On league on Wednesday I was getting some serious thumb pain from gripping the ball. I went and picked up some tape and threw 4 pieces into the back of my thumb and it straightened me right out. Threw 9 games without any pain whatsoever and I could definitely feel the difference with the ease in my swing and was also more consistent with my marks.

All in all a very productive and informative session. I've always been kind of between a stroker and a tweener but I'm really starting to learn the cranker release now. Not that I will use it all that often but it would be nice to have it when/if it is needed. Over the next few practice sessions I am really going to focus on my broken release for my spare game. I'm getting very close to not having any hook on my reactive ball, something I've always wanted to be able to do.

The mind plays games, or was it a coincidence?

For the first time in quite awhile tonight, I had a shot at a 600 series. I've had 5 or 6 of them in total, but haven't had one since late 2009. I wanted one bad and I knew I needed a 183 in my last game tonight to get one. I threw a couple of shots that seemed to be just like I wanted them in the first couple of frames but ended up with two splits. After a spare, I missed a couple of easy spares for 4 opens in the first 5 frames. After a spare or two more I realized it was impossible to get a 600. I then struck the rest of the game to finish with a 599. What an odd/frustrating thing to have happen. Makes me wonder if I'll ever get another 600. I know I will eventually, but when? AGGGHHHH.

Still struggling for 3 decent games in a night. At least, I have narrowed it down to the final game.
Monday: 215-237-182
Tues: 214-236-178

I feel I pick up speed, and no matter what I try, I can't slow down. When I slow my feet, the ball gets to the line early, and I lose all timing.

Good thing is I have picked up 10-pins with regularity, since abandoning my spare ball. I now use a suitcase release and roll straight across alley. A little hook on the tail. And, it's down.

But, it's kinda bitter sweet. It's a bummer leaving the house with the last game low. On the other hand, my bad series used to be mid 500.

Shot 223, 256, 187 for 666 on Monday. Had 2 opens in the first game, 1 in the second, and 1 in the 3rd. Last game, I just couldn't find the pocket on the right lane. Of the 4 opens, 2 were splits. I need to cut down on the garbage opens. Splits happen. Missing easy spares is upsetting.

Had a couple dismal games in there. If I can eliminate some of the mental mistakes I'd shoot 700 every night.

Lots to work on this week.

Terrible I missed all my 10 pins for the night. Most not even close.
196 game 1 (pocket 7-10), a nice 3/ in the 9th and what ever else I missed
160 game 2 ( 4th frame 7-10), missed 3 10 pins in row)
178 game 3 (more of the same)
Just an aweful night.

You guys complain too much. LOL.

174, 172, 173

I've lost about 25-35 pins a game from one center to this one. Our league's highest avg is @204 (the only avg. above 200).

Our lanes can & usually break down quickly and unevenly, so we have to be ready to change as soon as we recognize it. I have 4 balls and usually end up using 3 of them. But if the lanes hold up I can get away with two, which I prefer.
Playing straight up inside the track is my best line. In the track I can get maybe 4 good pocket hits before overhooking.
(kids are calling. later)

I started off terrible today in practice. I couldn't stay behind the ball and I was just awful on spares. I started with 143, 93, 136 (approx. from memory)

I corrected, found my swing then shot my first clean game at a 204 and followed it up with a 200.

Tonight I prebowled for my home league, as well as used the scores for the VL here.

Game 1: 112, Game 2 119, Game 3: 161 (New High Game)

Overall a great night, its gotta be the new 2Furious I got for Christmas.

300-168-200 last night. Easily the worst series I've ever thrown that included a 300. Condition changed quite a bit early in the second game, never really was able to get lined up again. 3 straight opens in the 2nd game killed me- 2 splits and a washout. One more open in the 3rd (another split) kept that game from being halfway decent, too.
