Just looking to see what you guys are using to clean your bowling balls? I got some cleaner that came with my Ball Spinner and to me it just looks like a simple green, alcohol mix. I would like to mix up something rather than buy a gallon from Storm or Brunswick and pay $60 plus for it.

I mixed my own Simple Green/91% alcohol solution- 50/50 in a spray bottle. Works great. Much cheaper than brand name stuff, too.
Experience is something you get immediately after you need it most

Sounds simple enough. Just quoting for a second opinion before I try the same. Anybody got a problem with this?

Also my wife has some sham-wow's at the house. Any problem using these as my bowling towels?

I use the same sollution based on the advice of five different pepole in my league, including my coach. The stuff I was using before left a sticky, gummy residue that if allowed to stay on the ball, really effected its performance negatively. It sure was pain to try to buff off though.

As for the sham-wows, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. Any soft cotton towel will work.

Acetone and Formula 409. Haha! Just kidding.

Diluted Simple Green for end of the night, then warm water bath with dish soap about every 40-50 games.

If the polish has a wax or some other slip additive in it .. yes simple green might remove those things..
But if the polish you used is just a very fine abrasive , the shine that is created is not created by a wax or other substance. It is created by the super smooth surface created by the fine grit abrasive. Simple green will not change this.

It may appear duller after cleaning the ball as oil in the ball will make it shine up on you.. If you clean the ball and remove some oil it will take some shine away and make the ball appear duller.

I now use straight rubbing alcohol with a small amount of concentrated simple green. It removes dirt and oil, evaporates quick and does not leave a film.
