Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Link is to BowlSK series sheet)

Another block quote from my BowlSK comment is in order tonight:

Quote:
I was able to carry the good feeling I had coming out of the tournament into league play tonight. I've been working on keeping my routine the same on both balls; except for a couple of single pins on the left side, all of my spare misses came on splits, so keeping my routine the same has generally helped me focus more on second ball.

Result: 183-204-231=618
Average (42 games): 185
Average for last 9 games: 185
Next week's AVG+1 score: 570

When I looked at our opponents' pre-bowl scores (my league secretary's in particular), I felt good about my team taking points in the second game, but the female present on the other team saved her team's bacon with a personal best 256 game, and that helped propel her team to the net win, with my team only taking the first game's point.

Very good night, for a couple of reasons...

207-160-248, 615/205avg. I came within 2 pins of one of my 2010 year goals (250 game.)

My new delivery was working very well (when I did my part) and busted out 8 strikes in the 3rd game, with 5 in a row.

We played the team in 2nd place and arguably the best team in our league. I swept my H2H and beat his scratch by one pin. (Truth be told, he was having an off night but I DID beat him fair and square!) Our team took 11 of 20 points overall but lost the team overall by 1 pin. (If only I would have picked up that stray 10-pin the first frame of the 2nd...)

One of the bowlers on the lane next to us threw a 300... we play them next week...

OK, I have officially decided that my Cell Pearl must go. It is officially DEAD. In retrospect, I don't know why I even used it. But, I did, and I suffered. Then, I made a ball change, and completely forgot that I polished my XTreme Damage last week. And, I didn't take it off. This ball doesn't like polish. And, I don't know why I even did it. So I struggled in game 2 also. Both games in the 170's.

So, I switched to my Terminator in game 3. This is my strongest ball, but I can soften my release to tame it down. And, what do you think? I start the game with the first 11 strikes in a row.

Now, I've been here before. The knees were not jittering, and I was calm. Even after the crowd behind me roared on my 11th strike.

I steadied myself. Cleared my head. Took 2 deep breaths. And rolled. I missed my mark to the right and left a 1-2-4-7-10. Yep, a 5 count on the 12th ball for 295. A Five Count!!!!!

I did shoot average with a 640. But, this was bittersweet as the first 11 were solid strikes, and this was a very weak attempt. I was more embarrassed then happy.

Says something about my mental game. I could control the nerves and I can take the pressure. But, when I cleared my head and took a breath, I didn't follow up and focus on my shot. I did rush up to roll.

Oh well, there is always next week. I'll get another 300 soon.

Good thing, I have shot 279's and a couple of weeks ago, a 289. But, I have not received an 11 in a row award, since the USBC made it. So, this is my first.

Congrats on the 295 Dennis. A nice recovery after a ball change.
Lately on some nights, I struggle to get to 295 after two games frown ,well ok a bit of an exageration... but something is amiss.
I went to see my coach the other day and would'nt you know it..I bowled well in her presence. Seems for the better part of a year though I am hot and cold...mostly cccold.

Last night...lots of strikes, but to many missed spares, and most were easy. Whiffing on 10 pins, chopping pins left and right....
I felt like going out back and kicking my own a$$. Just stupid mistakes and lack of focus. Absolutely no excuse for that.

This is by far my best season since my comeback 4 years ago even with a horrible 3 week slump where I did not get a 200 game and had 2 series in the 400's. This week I shot a 630 (192, 203, 235) and we won all 4 points. That was my fifth 600 series so far this league, more than I have had in any Winter season already and it is only a little over a 1/3 over. I have also had fourteen 200 games. Throw out those 3 weeks and I would be averaging 195 (I am at 188).

Went to watch my team bowl again tonight. Got a sub the minute I walked by the front desk. It's the 233 average bowler from a few weeks ago. This time he got time to settle in and practice and it showed. He shot a 750+ set and was high on our pair. We lost all four as the other team shot over average, and most of my team didn't do too well. After they made up the 105 pins of handicap, we lost by 148 pins the first game. The second game was only 24 pins and the last game was probably similar to the second game which of course means we lost total.

I have also decided to step aside after the first half is over. Based on my current vision, and not knowing when I might be able to return to work I don't see me being able to bowl the first month or so of the second half, nor afford to pay for the spot. I was talking with my brother and his oldest son has expressed interest in taking over the spot so we don't have a vacant spot or need to find someone else. It will be his first ever league experience. He offered to bowl for me when we first found out I would be out for an extended time but we thought it would be easier just to get a subs to finish out the half with me paying instead of splitting the money up. I'm going to stay on the roster for when I can return if they need me for some reason, and our league does allow roster bowlers to sub, just not against the team who's roster they are on.

I won't even go into the multiple altercations that happened tonight, including the one did part of my team was a party of. It wasn't bowling related, at least that part of it.
