Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK series sheet)

I'm just going to quote from my BowlSK comment:

Quote:
My spare game still isn't where it should be, though I made a greater percentage of my 10s tonight (3/4). The other misses, other than splits, were a couple of the easier two-pin clusters and a double-wood.

Result: 187-191-149=527
Average (39 games): 184
Average for last 9 games: 173
Next week's AVG+1 score: 588

The first two games were close, but we lost all points tonight, with Carl being the only one on the team over average on the night.

I am still going on a roller coaster. 224-168-254=646

Made a ball change in game 2. I had just polished my XD and it didn't like the polish. It couldn't handle the oil change, which is why I normally like this ball. This was my first ever let down with this ball. So, I guess I rub the polish off.

Went back to my Terminator for game 3, with success.

The other thing was that the recent cold spell shrunk my fingers, and my normal tight thumb insert was really lose. I used 3 pieces of tape, which I normally don't use at all. I tried other things like washing my hands in warm water and using finger stick-um to no avail. It did cause me to squeeze the ball, which I don't like.

Weird thing last night. Left a 3-6-10 and picked the 6 out of the middle.

Team is rolling along at a 5 of 7 point clip, but still in third. I like the way this team responds. We lost the first game handily, but, in each of the next 2 games, we pulled them out in the 9th and 10th with strings of strikes. Each bowler has taken turns picking the others up. If we all click at once, we are unstoppable.

We are a +1000 team in a 230 base handicap league. So, we get about 110 pins in cap. We've seen some pretty good games rolled by us and our opponents in this league. The league average is over 210, and very competitive.

There are 2 things that bowlers rave about this house. 1 is the oil condition, which is 44' of a heavy viscosity oil and a pattern that lasts all night. The other is the prices in the bar. $3 for a bottled beer, $2.50 Draft and $3.50 mixed drink. I don't drink, but my teammate says this is 30% under other centers. I'll take his word.

Horrible night... just couldn't carry the pins.

140-188-166, 494/165avg.

I have back problems and by the time I got to the lanes last night I could hardly walk. My ball speed was down in the 13-14 range vs the 16-17 normally.

I have be able to change my delivery a little and get under the ball more, it's still pretty ugly and inconsistent but I see a faint glimmer of hope. Because of this I was back with the 2Furious last night, it's been parked for most of a month.

The other 2 members of our team stunk just as bad and we lost 19 of 20 points. Oddly enough, I scored the single point by throwing 5 strikes to finish the 2nd game, winning by 12 pins. The other team, besides being a pretty good team, was on fire last night, anyway.

Started out ok as I try new things to improve my release. Then I resorted to some bad habits in game two and three,...231,180,179.
More work is needed obviously,...I see my coach this coming week.

I guess a week off did me good. After a 3 week slump that included a week of my worst bowling in years I come out and have one of my top 3 post comeback series and it really could have even been better than that. The good... I had 19 strikes and missed the pocket entirely only once and was zeroed in until the last game. The bad... I had 7 ringing 10 pins of which I missed 2, missed a few other makeable spares, and fell off the last game. The second game I buried the first 8 shots in the pocket but left those pesky 10 pins in the 3rd and 6th or I would have had the front eight.

So I ended up with a 627 (215, 233, 179) and even saved the first game for the team by finishing out with 5 strikes in a row to win by 15. We went 3-1 (lost that last game)and are at 27-21 and trying to climb up from 7th place.

Nice bowling Scott, way to put up some good numbers!

Its always good when you shoot a personal high or one of your better series isn't it?

So what were you doing/thinking differently on that night that you had not been doing during your slump?

Mainly not forcing the ball. When I start to slump I try to make the ball do things rater than just throwing it.
