The last time I looked we had a 2 party system (with room for independents if enough folks liked them). Obama ran roughshod over the Republicans with healhtcare reforms, so what we're seeing is a Democrat only policy. I think the next president (if the new Congress doesn't get to it first) will overturn that and try something that works for all of us. <Disclaimer> Neither a D or an R...just want to see the whole country represented </Disclaimer>

I also think whoever the next guy is he'd best think about getting us out of Afghanistan. Obama tends to waffle. The prez of Afghanistan has threatened us with becoming Taliban (He's not already?) so...it's okay to have insurgents from other countries, but not people to fight the insurgents? I think the whole Middle East wants us to sink as many resources as we can into a war we can't win....then they'll attack when they think we're weak.

I'll now climb down off the soapbox and turn this thread over to your regularly scheduled bowlers.

As for myself, being left of Kucinich, you would think I'd like Obama. However, we on the radical fringe see him as just a continuation of the corporatist warmongering policies of George W. Bush (I voted for GW's dad, BTW). That's why half the folks who voted for him didn't vote this year.

(I know I said I wouldn't post again, but I meant I wouldn't be giving any more advice on how to bowl....)

Based on the way he has acted so far it is my opinion he is a Communist, or at least a radical Socialist. Sadly, as the entire political spectrum shifts left (meaning, a right-leaning Democrat 30 years ago is now the same position a left-leaning Republican occupies today) his political views actually got him elected instead of ignored as a fringe candidate.

I have seen a repeated violation of the limits outlined in the Constitution specifically to keep the national government in check, checks that were put in place by the men who wrote the Constitution specifically because they feared an outsized government ursurping the several States rights.

If we can't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

For me, being in the space program, I believe there is a big disservice in that area to our country.

I don't understand how we can build the international space station, front the money so "other countries" could provide a piece to the effort and now we plan to get rid of manned space flight so that we can depend on Russia to get us there. And this, of course, is after Russia delayed the space station for an entire year and a half while we waited for them to get their piece made.

Here is an analogy I heard that makes sense to me:

This is like owning a car, its old but it works (shuttle) you get rid of the car and plan on buying a brand new car with all the latest luxuries (ARES). Then you notice that your neighbor down the street owns a car too (Russia) so you decide to cancel the purchase of your new car and have your neighbor just drive you if you need to go anywhere. Sure this works for a while but what happens when you and your neighbor can't coordinate because; they are sick, have something else to do, get mad at each other because your dog barked last night. The issue here is that right now Russia charges us about 5 million a head to fly through them, what will that price be once we have no means of our own transportation, whats stopping them from upping that price to 50 million, 500 million?

The space program consists of less than 1% of total government spending, yet just last year it was responsible for more than 75% of the total inventions. My company alone (600 employees) invented 164 new technologies, almost one for ever 4 employees that work here. Who picks up that slack when space is no longer in our future?

Personally, I think Obama's done a fine job...of acting like every other president. Not following through on his campaign promises and supporting, pushing and occasionally forcing policy on his constituents that supports or generates profit for his campaign finanicers. Bailout=Financial industry, Health Care Plan=Pharmaceutical/Health *cough* Sick Care Industry, RTTT=Bush's educational "reform"/plan except with different words.

Wasn't there talk of Hope and Change and standing up for the little guy? Oh right, I forgot. Obama is a great orator. My apologies. Alas it is not all his fault, there are definately problems with the government as well. Claiming that you're going to change everything and doing so requires a huge amount of courage, fortitude, patience and thick thick skin, because lord only knows that you'll have 535 people trying to knock you down if they don't like what you're doing.

I'm still waiting for an election where I don't have to sit there with my ballot and computer (absentee voter BTW), look at all their policies and "promises" and think 'which of these canidates are the lesser of two evils?' Personally, when a population has to do that, it's doomed to fail. Along with a news media that is horrendous and so uninformative it's almost worthless to have a TV...but then I watch football and remember why I have a TV. So I can yell and athletes getting paid millions upon millions of dollars to screw up the basic techniques you're taught and coached on when you're 6 all the way through high school. Although, Michael Vick on Monday night, absolutely amazing performance. Only way it gets better than that is when you do that in the Super Bowl.

Anyways, tangent over. I do agree with Taylor that our generation has it bad. It's unlikely that I'll ever see the Social Security that gets pulled out of my pay check. You're welcome Generation X. Uninformed, shoved through the educational system, ladened with more debt than most families before we get out of college, constantly passified by society, class gap vanishing much like the job market. It's sad.

Alright that's the end of my deconstruction of Obama and our society for today. Hopefully, I'm still within Admin's rules. The Demolition Man...OUT!

B-Hammer,

LOL, space bowling I love it!

In all reality my job isn't insanely exciting, I draw the electrical systems that run from Launch Control to the Launch Pad, so mostly a bunch of wires haha.

I do get to see some pretty cool stuff though, I won't lie there! Shuttle Launches as close as you can get without sitting inside the Orbiter, got to sit in the cargo bay of the shuttle while they installed a big payload (ISS part), as well as getting to tour the Columbia Orbiter Room which has all of the parts they could find all laid out and set up as if they were part of a working shuttle. That was probably the most intense thing I have done because of it being the last place those astronauts were able to call "home" and to see the parts all laid out and pieced back together definitely gives you a different point of view on whats going on around you.

Space bowling could work I think. You could use the old school pinsetter design, where they had the string or wire attached to the top of the pins. That could maybe work to keep them in line. The ball would be the problem as well as measuring 60 feet of straight space. You'd have to create like ummm...some sort of energy lane or something like that and have mechanical ball that reacts to said energy both in a way that it stays on the lane and simulates oil patterns and breakdowns. Hmmm...interesting. I'll have to think about this one a little more.

I think Obama’s bowling skills greatly outweigh his presidential competence.
