Boy, when it falls apart, it falls apart. 200-244-159

Couldn't keep the ball off the head pin in game 3 using my weakest ball. Splits galore. It was really an ugly, ugly game. I noticed the lanes changing in late game 2, but stayed with the ball, as it was carrying high hits.

I actually had a weird game in game 2, with 2 missed 10-pins early.
X 9- 9- X X X X X X X X 7O

But, my H2H opponent had an equally bad night, as I won all 3 games. Team took 21 of 30 points.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Links to series sheet on BowlSK)

As I also noted in the BowlSK comment, new pins came in this week, and what were strikes last week became weak and half 10s. I left 9 of those total, and it was a good thing I made them most of the night (I missed one, and one other one came filling a spare in the 10th) or this night could've really gotten ugly. As it was, I made other mistakes (8 frames with either splits or washouts), so not striking enough to make up for them was what did me in. I hope this was just one of those "average adjustment" nights.

Result: 188-154-154=496
Average (15 games): 192
Average for last 9 games: 208
Next week's AVG+1 score: 593

This turned out to be a very bad night for my team, as well (losing all 4 points), as Eileen and Patrick were the only ones who really contributed anything positive. It should be said that the other team had a 95 average bowler come within a few marks of 500, as well, so this was just a "perfect storm" night for them.

OK... better night, tonight.

146-193-189, 528/176avg. I say better, better than the tripe I bowled in Sunday's post-bowl for last week. I could not find the spot until early in the 2nd game. I changed my grip to putting the pinky against my ring finger and was able to get the ball to hook a little better.

My brother, still on fire from Sunday, bowled a 583 series, 194 average, and we needed every bit of it. We took the 2nd game series by 10 pins and the 3rd game by 8; taking 10 of 20 points in the end. Mike, our anchor, continues to struggle. He bowled a 675'ish scratch series Monday night and crashes and burns Wednesday night with a 471 scratch? *sigh*

Last week, when I had to prebowl because of work and bowled the best series of my life for the second time in 3 weeks, it did absolutely no good. Team lost 2 of 3 plus totals. One of our opponents shot 818, including a perfecto in game 2.

Tonight? Oh, we lost 2 of 3 plus totals again. The good things...this was the first series I have ever had where every strike ball hit the headpin. This also included the first time I have ever converted the Durbin (3-6-9-10). Everything else was ungodly bad.

173-171-168 = 512. Basically couldn't do anything right. I had a GREAT coaching session last night on timing and, without my coach, couldn't execute what I had been shown. I could not stay off the nose all night no matter where I lined up, and my spare shooting was just hideous. Lots and lots of pulls.

Very disappointing. It took me all of 1 week to drop my early average of 194 back into the 180s. This was my worst night of the season so far, though last season it would have been above average.

week 6 invitational scores: 168, 257, 259 for 684 series. 1-2 in match play. my team won. both me and my opponent hit the first eight in the 2nd game, but I missed the 10 pin spare in the ninth. he picked his up and despite having a 17 pin handicap, I lost the game. I made a ball change after the first game and focused on swinging my right leg behind me a little more than normal and it seemed to give me better balance and accuracy. I hope this means my slump is over and I can start stringing strikes together again.

That's what I was doing Sunday night... the guys thought I had a vendetta against the headpin I was clobbering it so much. I finally figured out I was rotating my hand around, actually turning the ball to the left just prior to release. Once I adjusted my grip and changed my follow through, things improved greatly...

WORST. BOWLING. EVER. 165-152-158, 475. The lowest series (by far) I've had since I got back into bowling about a year ago.

And I practiced so well this week too - averaged about 220 Sunday through Tuesday. Oh well, next week can't be any worse (I hope).

Another night when strikes were at a premium for me. Only two opens all night,...both splits, but still only shot 200,187, 185 for a bland 562.

Encouraged by the spare %, but I need to get that first ball to mix the pins a little better instead of leaving 10 pins and 7 pins.

I just can't seem to beat this house shot. I always lose 1 game of the 3. tonight, 140 (with 4 splits), 220 with a split, and 210 (with a split in the first and second). I had no opens other than those.

So, I sit at 190, and I have shot between 568 and 572 in each of the 5 nights. Gotta fix that 1 game each night.

Thursday Night I was still for the most part on fire. Came within 16 pins of my 3rd straight 600 series. Ended up with a 584 (223,197,164). Got a little pannicky after leaving a split in the 6th frame of the last game. Up until that point I was perfect with no opens. Then after split came up short of pocket and then pulled it so basically 3 bad frames at the end did me in. Still we took 3 or 4 and are off to a good start at 14-6.
