Went in today to work on one of my IT thumbholes and then get in a little practice. By the time I got on the lanes it was like a daycare center in the place. Kids everywhere (which I can sort of deal with), but then kids using bumpers and a ramp right next to me (which I really can't deal with). It was so noisy you had to yell to be heard. Bagged it after only about 10 frames of practice.

Working through distractions is one thing, but this was a little too much. Glad the owner is making money off all those kids, but I decided I'd practice another day.

Went to our Sunday morning practice with a few teamates and worked on my timing. I was over 200 for four games, felt real good timing wise, so I am considering the morning a success.

Does anyone know how you stay in time...? wink

Been fighting timing for a couple of weeks. So, today I worked on slowing my feet. Specifically, my second step. I can feel the difference when I take a full step. It speeds my footwork, and I pull the ball to catch up.

Today, 218-216-246-213. Guess it worked. We shall see tomorrow.

That second step is usually the culprit with me too Dennis.

But more importantly for me is to get my arm and the ball fully extended upon my first step...really get it out there. This allows me to get more leverage on the ball and I turn it over better. When I do get the ball out on time, everything else falls into place.

Its just so hard to stay in time when the guy next to me is whaling on the ball. Somehow, and I wish I knew how this happens, but I sometimes let other bowlers dictate the cadence of my steps, and before you know it I'm rushing the line.
Got to be more conscious of this in the future.

Last night before league I was coaching the local high school team and a few of the bowlers asked the other coach and I to bowl with them. So I grab my cell pearl and hop on 17-18 and proceed to throw the front 11 and then leave a 10 pin for a 299. The 12th ball my elbow got away from me and I knew it was a 10 pin all the way, but the team was excited watching the game unfold. That was the last practice game of the day for the high school so I packed up and moved to my league pair and had about 10 minutes to relax before league started.

Bowled on 33-34 and proceeded to throw the front 11 again, then a great shot that I left a 10 pin. In the game I moved on every third shot I believe and ended up 5-3 left of where I started the game. So needless to say I was happy to go back to back 299's even if only one was during real league.

So the series in league was 299-192-215 for a 704. If you add in my 299 from the game before league (only game of practice) then I shot 1003 through four games.

179-213-215 for 607

I had two opens 8 and 9th frame of 1st game.
Then pocket 7-10 split 10th frame 2nd game to screw it up.
Then another split in 10th of 3rd game to screw that up also. shot well other than those 4 shots

5 games of open bowling. Thought I'd try the bowling shoes I got at a garage sale. Walked in with my two bags, 5 balls, set up, threw the first ball and did a face plant.

the guys on the lane next to me were literally rofl.

I threw the rest of that game trying very hard not to fall again, stopping probably 2 feet from the foul line. In the second game, I put some slide powder on the sole, since I was the only one on the lane, and threw a 210 w/ 7 strikes.

The Lion roared, the laughing stopped.

I threw 5 games, 4 different balls. Some worked, some didn't, had a blast, and threw average of 164. Even though it was oily, the Lion and the Bomb worked best. I love pearls!!!

10PinGaloot,

I would suggest next time to do a few "dry runs" through your approach without the ball any time you get to the lanes, especially with new shoes. I do a mock shot on each lane of my pair every time before I throw a real shot on it, still to this day I have never fallen to the floor.

Did a little practicing today. 201-188-171, 560. Not very consistent and I missed too many spares. But...... I did figure out the last 5 frames of the last game that I wasn't extending out toward my target properly. After I corrected that I actually hit the pocket consistently, but I was slightly high every other time, so I didn't string any.

Didn't score too well, but at least I was able to learn from the session.
