Hi Guys,
I am introducing my self as a new member of this forum. I do amaze of a huge new things and learn a lot,..lot from you guys by reading all the posted discussion.
Read all the posted discussions; about thumb hole, release, timing, swing, hooking the ball, etc; however I have not seen any one discussing about middle & ring finger holes.
Does any body can help me; I have a problem with my fingertip (right side first join of mid-finger)? Recently I changed the direction my both finger from reverse 1/8 to 0(zero); it is because with reverse 1/8 I kinna feel no lifting to the ball and dropping it. I have worked out with my thumb hole and it works perfectly.
Do appreciate, if any one could help me with this problem. thank you. By the way, I use wrist support that helps me holding the ball firmly.

Greetings Abdoel... It sounds like you can use some personal help. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Check with your local Pro Shop, start by telling him your problem, Ask him to watch you bowl to see if your grip/release is ok. Perhaps a lesson may be in order. IF you have no Pro Shop, ask at the desk if anyone is available to help you out.. Good luck

Hello Bowling fans. AB welcome to the Forum. You have discovered that the middle finger is the key finger in imparting "lift" to the bowling ball. This is true.

The general rule is, that reverse pitch (I think this is what you are talking about} drilling helps impart that lift. Forward or zero to forward pitch provide a smoother stroker type release.

Reverse pitch at the fingers allows a bowler to stay in the ball longer, which lends to "lifting" the ball harder. But this does not jibe with your experience I am puzzzled. Could you explained futher?

O Man,..I wish I could find some one in the city where I live, who knows pretty well about drilling issues. Currently, I use to go to one of our best Pro Shop in the country; and getting fixed my thumb hole (after more then 10 times plugging and redrilling so many bowling balls). Ii is perfect now; not to thight and not losen, but its just come out on the down swing. Don’t ask me why I did that so many times, cahnged from reverse to forward pitch, + 1/8 right, or – 1/8 with those all combinations.

Thanks Darrel,.
I have discovered that, not because I know it, but I thought "changing the finger reverse pitch" 1/8 to 0; again I thought, that I could hold the ball longer and sometime lofting it when the lanes are drying. May be I am confusing with the terms of “lifting” and “lofting”. (AB)

So I got wrong impression a on the reverse pitch, cause sometimes my thumb and fingers were come out from the ball at the same time (produce a bad role). By the way I am using a wrist support.. I love bowling very very much; but just only as a league bowlers ( 3 time a week). Certified avg 178; league avg 190, RH, and Stroker(I think). Love and feels so great to whatch my bowling ball hooking. standing from 20-25, tried to find break point at 8-10. Hey, what is “tweener” means, I read so many times on this Forum?.
Again Thanks a lot Guys,..I love you all.

First off, the foward and back pitches on your fingers depend on your hands flexibility. If your fingers are stiff, you actaully want to be more than 1/8 reverse. Personally, I'm using half away on both my middle and ring finger, and a half left on the middle and a half right on the ring. I use what's called a dropped ring finger, meaning the span of my ring finger is shorter than my middle finger
actaul spans 4 11/16 4 5/8

so its a 16th shorter than my middle finger

My thumb pitches are zero and 1/8 right.

Good luck

P.S.

I don;t have any issues with my driller not wanting to make any grips changes on old balls. This may be due to the fact that i drill my own equipment smile

just wondering ... what exactly is a pitch and reverse pitch?

How much does it cost to redrill the hole?

Thanks

I have to say I'm in the dark when it comes to pitch. I'm incredibly inflexible (never met anyone as skinny as me who can't touch their toes, and my fingers don't bend back at all). Can someone explain how pitch might help the disadvantage(s) of inflexibility, and what symptoms might I see that would tell me that I need to play with pitch?
