Bowled for the first time tonight in a new friendly summer league and had a 180-180-212 (572). was poor on my spare pick ups tonight so all three games had potential to be much hight. But felt good bowling over my 169 average in all three games.

I have been trying to slow my ball speed down by holding the ball very low and having very little back swing which seems to be giving me a better reaction with my ball tonight so hopefully this may be something I can keep working on.

Tonight was the last Tuesday King of the Hill of the summer, and the oil pattern was Shark. I was definitely not in my comfort zone as a lefty, standing 31 and rolling over 18 at the arrows with a tight, short hook on the end. But, having bowled in PBA Experience leagues the past 2 years definitely helped.

After struggling the first game, everything came together the second and third games, winning both high game pots with 220 and 230 games and leading the qualifying. For the third week in a row, I faced the local pro in the finals. He won the two previous matches. This time, we both struggled, and the match went back and forth. We were dead tied in the 9th frame. He big-4-ed in the 10th and was unable to pick up the split. I finished with a spare, and that was enough to win the match and the title. Woo hoo!

I've been struggling in my summer league, I am not sure what exactly the issue is, it seems the lanes are different almost every week. I have 3 different balls and sometimes dont make the correct adjust ment ballwise.

Last week I shot 246 in the second game, front 7, missed left in the 8, struck in the 9th and didn't get it out and left a 1-3-6-9 and flagged the head pin for an open. I was happy to finally find something that was working, but unsure why I switched from it before the third game and switched back to it mid third game and it worked great. Sometimes having too much equipment is bad.

No, not knowing which ball to use, and when is bad. You hav to know your equipment and what each ball will do under the lane conditions.

Got my Rhino Pro Teal last night for league, and guess what?
It's too strong for these lanes.

So now I'm left with my Ebonite Lion and my spare ball being the only things that hook into the pocket, since I can't afford to buy a lighter ball (which would allow me to throw faster and overcome the midlane mud pit.

The Rhino, btw, moved beautifully. I can't wait to try it on a real lane.

Good day at the office, after seveal bad days!!

221,236,267,236 960 series over 4 games. so very happy, just got into a groove..

This was in a phantom league, where I don't sit around waiting and waiting, aim to find the pocket early, and hopefully repeat shots...

Hi Looseleftie,

The state of bowling in the UK is pretty good although nothing compared to the US obviously. There are plenty of centres but it is a little hit and miss regarding the league/local tournaments as a lot of centres are aimed more at the recreational side rather than the league side, but its not bad overall.

I hope to be putting more scores like that, just need to keep working on my consistent

Once again, I had trouble finding a good line last night until halfway through the second game. Had a 172 - 192 - 257 (621). I really wish I could get it together earlier! Oh well, we took 3 of 4 points, so that helped.

Hi...my first post. Anyhow, I bowled alot when I was in the Navy, but hadn't bowled since I retired (17 years ago). So a couple of months ago, at work we started bowling once a week during lunch.

So, I decided to try a league (to get better), and went on a Wednesday, where they said I could sub in for anyone who didn't show up. I joined a team of players who were pretty good (so I was worried I would embarrass myself). Luckily that wasn't the case as my 1st game, I bowled a 191, then my 2nd game a 152, and my last game a 217 (where I bowled 6 strikes in a row....woot!!) The 217 was my personal best game, so I am looking forward to next Wednesday.
