Took another whiff of the Friday Night Handicap Tourney. Four games on 8 lanes my games were 215 148* 174 180. 717 scratch. 889 handicap. I didn't cash yet again, however I did manage to shoot a few pins over my average instead of the 20-30 I've done in the past. Competition was fierce! The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places all placed with 0 handicap! My Slate Blue Quantum was responsible for my only 200 game. I was impressed with how well that ball handled all of the oil and carried light. There was a time when I wanted to sell it because of the lack of carry it displayed and the way it burned up. I see it has a place in my bag now when I go to that house. Now I don't have to purchase a C-System 3.5(anytime soon). The Evil Siege just wasn't carrying the 10 tonight. My "Woody" (Toy Story Spare Ball) got a lot of action. I finally found my sweet spot when it came to picking up the 3-6-10, which is the easiest cluster to chop in my opinion. Thanks to the PBAX League I have become more efficient in picking up spares with plastic.

*In my lowest game, I had only like 1 strike. frown

Did about 7 or 8 games of practice tonight, keeping score the last two games. 176-189. And I only had one open frame in two games - a split! I just could not find the pocket. My local lanes gets so little business in the summer, that they only oil about two or three times a week. They hadn't oiled for 2-1/2 days and the lanes were just bone dry. I finally wised up and went with my old urethane Black Hammer. Best look of the night. When I hit my mark it pounded the pocket, but alas I only used it the last two frames.

Good bowling, jwill. Sometimes, we just have to be satisfied with making progress. I give you credit for taking a chance and bowling the tourney.

Nice practice session, wklstoy. That's a lot of games. I would love to find an undrilled 16lb Black Hammer.

I bowled a KOH tonight on a house shot. I don't remember the exact scores but the four games were in the range of 235, 255, 205, 245. Unfortunately, a pocket 7-10 the third game was enough to keep me out of the finals, but I was happy to take 6th place, the last cashing spot.

Had a really nice open bowling session today. Decided to "just bowl", so all I really concentrated on was my targeting, free swing and low release. Worked pretty well, 209-213-209-258, 889. Only opens were a washout, a couple of splits, and a two-pin I missed to the right (I knew it on the approach), but I felt good throughout and had at least nine pocket hits per game. The last game they were all in the pocket, and nine of them were flush.

Like I said - good.

Decent short session today. 224-234-185, 643. The last game I missed an easy 9-pin, and left one nasty split (4-6-7-9-10); also tried too hard to force things a bit when my line went. The first two games I had a pretty good line though.

Thanks Joe and Congrats on cashing. Today I practiced on the Chameleon Pattern.
(from what I remember) First Set: 169 170 170 194.
Second Set: 119? 150 ??? 134.

I was tiring around the second set and the scores showed it. My aggressive equipment was burning up also. The weaker ball I switched to wasn't carrying, and I was throwing bad shots and missing spares. The bad shots mostly were from having a loose grip on the thumb hole so I added tape in the ball when I got home. I should be alright come Tuesday night in my PBAX League.

Tonight I plan on paying attention and seeing the adjustments earlier to get rid of those single pins.

Well, another Friday and this makes two series in a row that I did not shoot a 700, although this one was a little better because I shot 803 instead. So that brought my average back up to 241.5 .

I shot 248-267-288 for the 803, the last game I went front 10 (I knew I needed that) then the last one I threw a little quick, left a flat 10 and then missed it.

Why is it that Senior Travel practice goes so easy, and sometimes it's a struggle in competition? I felt so easy and under control today.

Tried something that was recmmended by the house pro about a dominant left eye. He had me closing my left eye when I bowl. Then the right eye. I watched as I would miss my target when only my right eye was open, and hit it with only my left eye open. With both eyes, it was hit or miss.

Seems like my right eye crosses to focus while the left eye stays in place. Still don't know how to remedy this for bowling.

However, I did target 4 boards to the right of my normal target with success.

Bowled 253-217-227-215 with an oen tenth.

Since I'm left eye dominant, I have been trying to turn my head slightly to the right, so I'm looking more from my left eye. Mixed results so far, but seems to be a little better than facing head on.

HI Dennis,
I'm a leftie, yet right eye dominant, I miss my mark by a couple of boards, but do it pretty consistantly for the most part... At one stage some yesrs ago, I thought of changing to right handed, however I am so left side dominant that it would probably have been disastrous...

Last night 202,218,216 635 series, happy, they had oil, school holidays over with now. Can enjoy bowling again for another 10 weeks or so till the next holidays come...
