If you mean you need a stronger wrist this is not the case. What you need is better technique. A free swing will allow you to get under the ball without using excessive muscles. Look it the skinnier guys on the PBA Tour like Fagan, they don't have a ton of muscles but use great technique to get behind the ball and create leverage.

I don't really see what Fagan is doing. It looks as if he is curling his wrist as the ball passes his right leg in the downswing.

That's not a beginner shot.

What I would recommend is that you simply make sure your wrist is firm, not broken back, as the ball falls forward. and then let the ball roll off your fingers after it's come off the thumb. This will get you good results - a nice roll and accuracy - at the beginner level.

Just make sure you're not holding onto the ball. It has to come off of its own accord. That means the thumb hole must be snug enough that you don't have to grab the ball.

i know you gotta release thumb first but i dont really try to release thumb first. if i try the ball will come off straightaway. must i conciously try to get thumb out first or is it natural?

If your hand is behind the ball, and your fingers under the equator, your thumb will come out first. The ball will rest on your fingers through the release.

I agree, and thought it might confuse him, but just wanted to show him that you don't need huge muscles to get great revolutions.
