Opinions on which balls you all think are the best overall in terms of being able to use on BOTH sport shots and THS?
Obviously some cover alterations may be needed but in general which balls have you found to work well on both?

The only ball I have that works equally well on THS and sport shots is my plastic spare ball. I know that is not the answer you are expecting, but the problem is "sport shot" encompasses everything from cheetah to shark. I don't have one ball that works well on both of those patterns, let alone the others.

I suppose if I had to choose only one ball, it would be a hybrid, like the Rogue Cell, and drilled with a medium strong layout. It would probably do well on the THS and perhaps the chameleon and scorpion, but would be challenged on the shorter and longer patterns.

So, it might be helpful to offer an opinion if you provide the following,

PAP
Avg Speed
Rev Rate
Axis Tilt
Axis Rototation

If you have the correct combination of the above, you could purchase the fowling,

Roto Grip Dark Star

And, have a dud on a sport shot, yet a great shot on THS. But, your could purchase a,

Strom Invasion
Ebonite Mission

And, have a winning shot on a sport shot, but a dud on THS.

So, what drilling and what surface? answer the first part of my question, and maybe someone here could have valuable suggestions.

what ball works for me, depending on ALL of he above will not always work for all other bowlers.

I really haven't found any one ball that works on all PBA patterns, that I have also used on a house shot. Each ball I have has an internal weight distribution, a specific cover and a particular drill that achieves a desired affect on specific conditions.

I guess, only my spare ball would work the same on all.

For only 1 ball, I would use something that gets more length on a house shot and shorter patterns. Then you can move and adjust the entry angles for longer patterns. I wouldn't get anything that would be skid/flip, but a ball with a controllable arc.

My coach is recommending the Reign of Fire and/or Invasion.

With the varying lengths of the patterns, as well as the differences in league patterns, just about any ball that works on one will work on another- there's no real magic ball here.
