hi, i am just starting out bowling, and before i bought my ball, i didn't stumble on this site, hence know nuts about ball drilling.

my ball is a reactive groove from brunswick. after reading through so many threads, i realize that the pin should be somewhere near the finger holes. but the Pro Shop guy that drilled my ball, has the pin placed on the opposite surface as my finger holes... now what does this mean? is the guy a noob?

thanks big bros

Opposite surface? I don't understand, sorry. IF your fingers were a clock center, where are is the pin? And did the Pro Shop watch you bowl before drilling the ball?

Other side of the ball? I HOPE that isn't what you mean by "opposite surface"...

I'm with Erin...in addition to the "clock center" visual...how many inches from the fingers is it? Literally...use a tape measure.

Got me curious now...

John

I agree with John and Erin, as well. I'm curious myself. From what you described, the pin is on the opposite side of the ball from the fingers...?

yup, the pin is on the opposite surface as the finger holes. it is not on the same surface of the finger hole... judging from the reaction, i think this is really bad... should i replug the ball?

to add on, to make things easier, earth is round, if the finger hole is on the 'north pole' surface, then the pin is on the 'south pole' surface, hope this is better

yikes! that sounds like it might not even be a legal layout (but i have no idea i don't know the rules). i would have it re-drilled i think. make the guy who drilled it for you do it for free, too. it is his responsibility.

Colddagger,

I've known some bowlers that have had some exotic drilling patterns like this, but it was years ago and these bowlers had a LOT of balls - and wanted/needed something with a strange driling pattern. I wish I had more information that I could send your way, but initally it certainly sounds strange.

I'm definitely going to follow this thread and see what other people have to say about this.

It really depends. If you are a full roller then the drill is fine. This could be a leverage drill for a full roller. If so, then the ball is set up for maximum power.

So, did the Pro Shop guy watch you bowl then drill? Because the only way I can think of to get such a pattern, is from knowing how you throw the ball.

thanks for all the help ppl, i don't think the Pro Shop guy even know me. I went there and ask to have a reactive ball, fingertip, for someone beginning, and has a avg of 120 on plastic ball; and he gave me that. Although drilled in such a funny way, the ball still hooks to the left (R-hander) laugh . I think i might just plug the ball and have it redrilled. How many times can a ball be plugged? and full roller? i don't understand *scratch head*
