These wrist supports can shift position occasionally. The hinge lock on mine, which controls the lateral position of the hand support, loosened during a game when my son was trying the support. He had a couple of erratic shots before we discovered what was wrong.
The positive side of this changeability, though, is adustability. During practice yesterday, for example, I was having trouble finding a line that wasn't overhooking or underhooking (on dry boards vs. oil). I reduced the cupping setting of the
wrist support by one notch, tried the dry line again, and threw 3 strikes in a row (would have been six, except for a solid 9 pin).
Next (practice) time out, I'm going to experiment with increasing the cupping to see if I can generate more hook on oil.
