We had our pitch-in dinner and awards night this evening. Afterwards, my team didn't feel like participating in the Scotch Doubles and 9 pin games that were planned. We just wanted to get some practice in so we opted to get an open lane or lanes and bowl normally. Unfortunately, the center was busy enough that we couldn't get a pair so we settled for one lane.
Things went so so until the last game. 181, 175, 129. That was when some discourteous people moved in and my meltdown was officially on. One group was next to us and the other two lanes down from us. The group next to us rented shoes but didn't put them on and proceeded to bowl in their tennis shoes. Mind you we were DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DESK, yet no employee seemed to notice until we complained. Then the group two lanes down proceeded to whip two balls down the lane and into the pinsetter. You could easily have heard the resulting "bang" from the other end of the center, yet again, nothing was done until I brought this to the employee's attention.
As I've ranted before on here, these are common occurances on Fridays, Saturdays, and apparently now Sundays as well! I don't care how much money the open bowlers bring in, I'll never understand why this behavior is continually tolerated. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't even bowled tonight. I grew up bowling in this center. It is easily one of the nicest and largest centers in my area but I'm just about done with the place.
