Is anyone going to the 2010 USBC Convention in Reno?

If you are what do you think about the legislative proposals this year, especially proposal B-10?

Sending Mark to the Lane Certification workshop. But due to the convention being in the middle of the week I cannot afford to be a delegate and take off from work that many days.

I think the whole b 1o will be trashed. We have problems getting anyone to be a volunteer director as it is. Making catagories of directors will be near impossible. And from personal experience, we've had several very high level "elite" bowlers become directors and not one of them has lasted more then a year and not one of them has completed a term as director. And proprietors have no place on the local USBC board. They are profit generators for their business. They do not have the USBC and its bowlers at their best interest. In fact many ........don't want leagues and don't want tournaments. Most centers and their managers and proprietors do nothing to promote USBC and will have any league that guarantees weekly income;sanctined or not. Those centers that are league centered and encourage sanctioning in USBC are rare.

Thanks Erin. What I'm concerned about B-10 is that it deviated from normal form. In that I mean there are 28 items listed in one proposal and none of the items have corresponding justification. I can't help but feel there is something hidden in there that I am not interpreting as USBC is.

The other question I have is how is B-10 going to be handled? I have seen posts on the forums at bowl.com that say the items will be handled individually as well as another post that states it will be decided in it's entirety. Both responses were by USBC employees.

They will have to go through the items one by one just to explain them. Maybe that's what the person meant by going through them one at a time. This proposal alters too many articles and bylaws that also will have to be voted on and changed.

And like you, I cannot shrug off the feeling that there's some hidden purpose behind such a monstrous and strange proposal. I think that, there is so much mistrust between the local associations and USBC that it cannot pass because most are going to feel exactly like you are.

That being said, I wonder why no one is openly discussing these proposals on the boards. The convention is only 3 weeks away.
