Can you describe in detail how you are currently releasing the ball?

Anyway, you add tilt to your shot by rotating around the side just slightly as the ball is coming off your hand. Too much and the tilt will be too much. It's as simple as that.

Willy, try experimenting with different finger pressures and wrist position combinations. Try also keeping your thumb outside of your elbow and follow through in a hitch hiking/1:00 position (right handed 11:00 for lefties, this prevents chicken winging).

One other thing you can try is to try wrapping your wrist around the ball as it falls into the release, this will increase the amount of wrist angle into the release and turn the fingers and Track in away from the thumb hole as the ball rolls off your hand. Use your wrist as a spring for the release and spring or coil your wrist into the release. This will keep your wrist in a stronger position and hopefully rotate the Track away from the hole. Post back and let me know how it works, good luck.

I know how it feels to have a High Track problem. I'm a thumbless bowler thus causing myself to have the habit of getting around the ball really early and not driving through it. When I really get around the ball my Track shifts over my inserts and the roll is [censored]....Just concentrate on driving through the ball in the shape of a handshake. That's what I do.

Thanks for the word of advice, Recon. This is a huge problem for me, too -- no matter which ball I'm using of the ones I have, I Track it very close to and sometimes over the inserts. Keeping the ball hand well inside of the ball in the stance and through the swing feels extremely awkward and unnatural, so I don't do it. This is my goal to work on this summer -- in 15 years of candlepin bowling, I only bowled in a summer league once. I prefer the time off to just practice.

No problem mike. Just remember to NOT twist your wrist and turn the ball with your wrist. The revolutions should come from coming up through the ball. Thumb comes out and then your fingers put the revs on the ball when you are coming up like a handshake. This promotes forward role which is essential to hooking the ball generally.

Ding ding ding ding! Jackpot! This is what I will be spending the summer learning to do. All of the very limited revs I do get come from the wrist. Hell, the first coach I saw (who I no longer use) had me using the wrist to get all of them. thumbsdown

Because my tendency from candlepin is still to run to the line and whip the ball through the swing as fast as I can, my balance and footwork are so bad that they've needed lots of corrective action before addressing anything else. The timing of dropping the ball into the swing in the pushaway is probably the one aspect of technique that I do well right now. Everything else, ugh.

Knee bend is key to produce revs. The thing is if your body is completely bent over like you were in your videos your robbing yourself from leverage which produces revs. Work on it through out the summer!
