I practiced yesterday and today. The temps have gone up here, the snow's melting, and the bowling alley was humid! I can take that physically, and I'm aware it affects lane conditions....but does it have to attack the thumbhole?? I hate when that happens. I thought someone poured strawberry jam in there. Pro Shop recommended Easy Slide on the back of the thumb. Since it's the back of the thumb that's the problem, I may go back to Ron's Magic Carpets or something similar. I remember using them during a summer and didn't stick. The only reason I stopped using them is that I was tearing the skin between the two knuckles. I can fit some New skin and a patch in there and I'll be good to go.

No bowling Friday, they gave me a night off. I need to rest anyway. I'm trying to practice too many new things at the same time;)

Just a thought, but if you open the thumb hole a bit and use some rosin and white tape to compensate would that work?

There's already 4 pieces of tape in the thumb. It's not too tight. The tape is probably bleeding adhesive. Resin is for gripping. I've never liked the feel of it.

Whenever I have moisture problems I use rosin. And I go through a lot of it. I said to open up the thumb hole a bit (I meant by removing tape) since it usually makes your thumb stay in the hole too long.

Arrgghh... I feel your pain! Spring is here, and my thumb hole sucks...literally. I have softer, tacky skin, and I use EasySlide on the back of my thumb every time I bowl. I had the Pro Shop guy take even more out of the thumb last wed... I'm going to finally try using tape to keep a good feel.

(I posted this once already, but my post disappeared into the ether.)

It was humid at my bowling center yesterday. I didn't have problems with the thumb hole, but my sliding shoe was hanging up on the approach. It completely messed me up most of the day. At one point I did a face-plant on the oily lane when my body wanted to go forward but my left foot didn't.

I have Dexter shoes with changeable soles, so I switched to a "slidier" one, but that felt like I was slipping on a banana peel, so I went back.

It never felt right all day, although I got used to it somewhat by the time I finished bowling.
