Nice idea about the hat brim. I think it is a great idea and goes along with shortening my game back to where I can control it.

Forget about the pins and focus on executing what I need to work on.

Question on that Mallott video - it appears that he rotates his hand before his thumb is out of the ball. I realize pros are a different breed, but for your average bowler, isn't the turn of the hand not supposed to take place until after the thumb is out of the ball?

The rotation is counter-clockwise and then forward, a smooth rotary motion. If the thumb were to come out too soon, the ball would drop off before the rotation is finished.
Think of the fingers as tracing an oval that's tilted a little from the vertical. It's very three-dimensional.
