Our house also witnesses the pre-bowls. Most of the employees at the center are an officer in one of the leagues there so they all just watch out for each other. If you pre bowl, most times they put you in the middle of the house as close as they can to the desk. They also print out the computer score sheet and take your paper copy of the totals. These get signed and turned in to the league.

I really hate pre and post bowling. Our league requires notice of it, but it isn't followed too seriously. It is a mixed league, and it is somewhat relaxed. Still, I consider Pre/Post bowling a privilege and you are lucky to have the option. If you can't be there that night deal with it. You know at the beginning of the year what days you bowl, if you have other plans that are more important to you than bowling, go to the other plans. If bowling is that important to you, clear up your schedule. I know emergencies happen, but if you practiced and didn't like the lanes, I wouldn't have bowled. I don't even worry about the money I pay way ahead in my league, so I only have another $30 or so to pay and Im done till I get my money in June.

No. As the competitor, it is your job to adjust to the conditions.

Could be. In the past, the way to increase scores across a house would have been to DECREASE the amount of conditioner.

Careful what you ask for. House bowlers cannot generally bowl well on an even (flat) condition. LoL

See the first answer.

Sure, if that will make you feel better.
I have mixed feelings about prebowling. It was something allowed in junior leagues when I was a kid, but adults always had to post a blind or get a sub. When you prebowl, you pretty much get what you get.

I am a bit confused. Why did you not take out your plastic spare ball and throw that for strikes? It probably would have been all world.

LoL...better luck in the futrure.

Nope, you choose to pre bowl you get what you get.

During a league or tournament maybe. But that's in a perfect world and that doesn't happen often. For pre or post bowling nope. Its simply not possible to keep an uptimum scoring condition in a center on all lanes all the time. You are asking for too much.

nope, they know there's no oil. You are the one that choose to bowl, not them.

Grow some.... and remember to just take your blind score next time you have to miss league.

Our fall sanctioned Monday mixed league allows an individual to post bowl only on the first week of the season, but allows pre-bowling anytime, except for position round. They do not require a witness, but require that the secretary is notified when you pre-bowl. The rule is somewhat relaxed in that league, but from what I understood, if the secretary is not notified and the opposing team disputes the pre-bowled score, the posted score cannot be counted.

The only thing I know about our Wednesday Men's league is that if a person(s) on the team needs to pre-bowl, then the rest of the team must pre-bowl. Therefore, not allot of people pre-bowl on that team.

I agree with most of the opinions here. Basically you cheated and are looking for justification. You need to suck it up and accept it for what it is. We had to bowl with not a drop of oil on the lanes for 3 weeks.

Hey Scott, peace mate.... In hindsight, I either should have put scores in, or after a minutes practise before games, packed up and come back another day... A mistake I won't repeat, one of the benfits of maturity!!

Appreciate all views, even ones that disagree with mine..

I still believe the centre staff, who were all standing around may have at least mentioned before I bowled league that they have had NO oil for 2 days... Still, thats just my take on it..

I'll suck it up Scott, I have broad shoulders mate.

Sorry if I was too direct but I know I would be upset if I found out somebody pre-bowled then decided 10 minus average would be better so they took that.

I never depend on the center staff. Most of the time they do not know what is going on or would not feel a need to share it.

At least you will know next time.

On all leagues in the one house i bowl at there are no individual pre/post bowls. If you need to do a make it should be as a team, which is what you do during the normal league. If you can't make it find a sub. Me and wife had a case where we had plans on league night and prebowled then found out a couple days later we could bowl that night so we went in and asked and were told that since we prebowled we had to take those scores. That's life. I personally believe there should be no individual pre/post bowls period.

I have learned that if you want to know what the lanes are like either ask someone who you feel confident in giving you correct information or bowl a practice game on different lanes before you do your pre/post bowl...this way you know what to expect.
